The 3 Q’s With Ryan Lockhart Presented By Matrix Concepts Canada

Dylan Wright is now out of the hospital and recovering nicely. Hopefully he will be back for Round 4 in Gopher Dunes.

MXP: Hey Newf! We know you’ve been busy, so it’s good to have you back. We’re two rounds into the 2024 Triple Crown Series, and so far, it has not been all roses for the GDR Honda Team. It sounds as though Dylan Wright will be okay, which is great news after the severity of his crash on Sunday.  What is the plan for this weekend in Manitoba and for the east rounds?

RL: It’s been a rough start to the season, for sure. The plan for this weekend is to run Tiger only in the 250 class. We didn’t see a point in bringing in any fill-in riders for one round. As a team, we feel confident that we will have Dylan and Tyler back on the track come the east.

Newf is impressed but not surprised at the speed of young Drew Adams.

MXP: The 250 Pro/Am class has been a fierce battle, with Kaven Benoit and Drew Adams emerging as the top contenders. While Benoit’s performance was expected, the speed at which Adams has been riding is truly impressive. What are your thoughts on this?

RL: No, I’m not surprised at all, to be honest. He’s legit and on track to be the next big thing in the USA. The first moto last weekend was unreal to see—last to first. I’m not sure if he plans to stick around the rest of the series, but if he does, he’s going to continue to win.

Quinn Amyotte was one of the hardest charging riders on Sunday and he was rewarded with second OA.

MXP: As we said, we’ve raced four motos in each class so far. Has there been anything that has stood out or surprised you?

RL: Nothing really has surprised me, but all eight motos I have watched have been exciting. The pace at the front is really good, and seeing more depth in both classes is nice. There have been several stand-out performances so far, but I’d have to say that Quinn Amyotte and Wyatt Kerr have been good, especially this past weekend at Temple Hill.
