Behind The Lens From The 2015 Oakland Supercross

After a drama filled round three last weekend in Anaheim, the riders of the 2015 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series entered Oakland hoping for a quieter night of racing. Once again Frank Hoppen was on site to provide MXP with the following breathtaking photos. So sit back and lets go Behind The Lens from the Oakland Supercross.

oak weimer

In four rounds Jake Weimer has been hovering around 10th place in each main event. In Oakland Jake once again finished 11th.

oak anderson

After starting near the front in Oakland, Jason Anderson faded a little to finish just in front of Weimer in 10th place.

oak hansen

Every time I see sand on a SX track I wonder why they keep doing it. Here Josh Hansen fights his way through the deep soft stuff on route to a solid 8th place finish in the Lites main event.

oak millsaps

No one seems to know what is wrong with Davi Millsaps as he once again struggled in Oakland and finish in 8th.

oak metcalfe

How solid has Brett Metcalfe been so far in 2015? Although he says he’s only doing six rounds of SX this year, I can’t help but think we’ll see him beyond San Diego.

oak seely

After struggling a little in the first three rounds, Cole Seely finally put in 20 solid laps in the main event to finish a very strong 5th.

oak tomac

Even though Eli Tomac has yet to find the magic we saw in Phoenix, here he shows perfect body position as he drifts through an Oakland corner.

oak hill2

There aren’t too many people in this industry that didn’t think Justin Hill would’ve won a main event already in 2015. In Oakland he had a little trouble with the sand section.

oak hill1

At least Hill was okay after this crash.

oak dungey

After four rounds of the 2015 Monster Energy AMA SX Series Ryan Dungey is your 450 points leader.

oak webb

So far in the Lites class Cooper Webb has definitely been the most exciting rider to watch.

oak reed1

After his black flag ordeal last weekend, Chad Reed bounced back nicely to finish third in the main event.

oak reed2

Although finishing third was a huge improvement for Reed, he was not happy after the main event as he did make a few mistakes that cost him.

oak canard

There were some tense moments for everyone as Trey Canard had to once again catch and pass Reed during the main event. However, this weekend there were no issues and Canard went on to win his first SX since 2011.

It was great to see Reed and Canard talk things over after their Oakland battle.

Congratulations to Trey Canard on his big win in Oakland.

oak roczen1

Ken Roczen visualizes whats to come during practice in Oakland.

oak roczen2

No one predicted a mistake like this one from Roczen. Here is the sequence of his painful get off.

Roczen was very lucky that he wasn’t injured in Oakland. It will be interesting to see how he bounces back this weekend in Anaheim.

oak podium

Your 450 podium made up of two happy Americans and one not so happy Australian.

oak track

It was a beautiful day in Northern California on Saturday as Oakland hosted round four of the 2015 Monster Energy AMA SX Series.
