Have you ever wondered what people in the Canadian motocross industry think about Christmas? Well, wonder no more as over the next few weeks we’re going to reach to some pro riders and industry people to ask them some key festive questions. So far this week we’ve caught up with the Medaglia brothers and now we head out west to ask Ryan Lockhart these very important questions.
MXP: What is your best Christmas memory as a child?
RL: I can remember when I was young, going to bed with a few presents under the tree and then waking up in the middle of the night with all the new presents. If I was super lucky some of the big ones wouldn’t be wrapped. I can remember that like it was yesterday.
Are you a big Christmas person or not?
To be honest, over the last ten years Christmas was not the biggest deal for me. However, a lot of things have changed in my life since then, and with Randi coming into my life Christmas has changed. She loves it and had our tree up early, even bossing me around to get the Christmas lights and decorations up at our house. Also, all of my close friends have young children now so it’s super cool to spend time with them over the holidays. I love every minute of Christmas now.
Where will you be spending Christmas this year?
We’ll be staying in BC for Christmas. It would be nice to make it back to Nova Scotia but it’s just too expensive. So we’ll just be hanging out at home and then we’ll go visit Randi’s parents for a few days over on Vancouver Island.
What is the best Christmas gift you ever received?
Good question, I would say the 1996 Daytona SX tickets were pretty cool.
Have you even started your Christmas shopping yet?
Nope!!! I’m a last minute person in that department.
Would you rather race another Regina mudder or have to go to Wal-Mart on Christmas Eve?
Definitely a Regina mudder. I always seem to excel in the mud. I would prefer if it’s not on my own personal bike though.
What do you want for Christmas this year?
This year I need some golf lessons, a new laptop, and my knees fixed.

What is your favourite Christmas movie?
The original Home Alone is definitely a good one.
Be honest, do you wrap present yourself?
Yes, absolutely… I’m decent at it.
If you ever came face to face with Santa, what would you ask him?
I’m not really sure, I guess I would like to know how he manages his time so well. Hopefully I could learn a thing or two.
