Kandreya Szusz is a very talented young lady from Kingsville, Ontario. Being only 8 years old, she has only been riding for two years and is definitely moving forward to becoming a future star in Canadian Motocross.
MXP: What kind of bike do you ride and what is your number?
KS: I ride a KTM 50 SXS and recently got a KTM 65 SX, and I have 159 as my number.
What riding clubs do you compete in, what classes do you race, and what series have you competing in?
Currently, I have been doing the AMO series and I’m an MRC member. I have competed at a couple Triple Crown Races, too. I race 50 GP, 50 7-8, but my favourite class is Girls 4-8.
Do you have a favourite track where you like riding?
I really don’t have a favourite track that really stands out. I like all sorts of tracks. Gopher’s big track was definitely the hardest thing I’ve raced on. Sand Del Lee is really fun, and Madoc and Gully Mor have the best hills to climb. I always have soooo much fun at Motopark. Swiona has a really fun track, with the best whoops, and they have kittens everywhere! So maybe that’s my favourite!
You recently rode on the Delaware SX Track. Did do you like it?
Delaware SX was interesting; it was also kind of hard! I had never ridden over a jump that hit the bottom of my bike before. It was scary! It felt like I was going to flip over. It was really fun, though. I learned a lot, and having the crowd cheering me on was amazing, it gave me courage. Overall, it was a great experience and I can’t wait for the Hamilton SX.
Who is your favourite rider and why?
This one is easy! I love (Magic) Mike Alessi! I love his starts, he is so good at them. He was throwing some big whips at a local AMO race this spring at Gopher Dunes and I just really think he is sick! Also, my favourite Ladies Pro is Robin Hutchinson! She is so friendly, and she took me to meet Mike Alessi at the Gopher Dunes National.
Is there are Canadian rider that you look up to, and if so, why?
I look up to #437 Kyle King! I’m his biggest fan and he is my biggest fan! He loves riding so much and is so fun to hang out with. He loves Jesus just like me and is always teaching me to be better on and off the bike! He also cheers louder than anyone else!
Do you have a hero that you look up to?
My hero is God and my family.
So, you have only been riding for 2 years, are there any big accomplishments you have achieved?
My biggest accomplishments are making it through the Erie Ramblers mud race, Gopher Dunes National on the big track and learning to shift my 65!
The 2018 season is almost done; were there any goals you wanted to achieve? What are your future goals?
My goals for this season were to stand up more, go into corners faster, exit corners faster, jump farther and to finish 3rd overall in Girls 4-8! There’s only one race left and it’s at Gopher Dunes!
My goals for next season are to race three classes (Girls 4-8, 50 GP, and 65 7-9). I’d like to race more Supercross/Arenacross races too. My biggest goal would be to find some more speed. I just need to be brave and charge like Mike Alessi!
What is your favourite part about going to the races?
My favourite thing about going to the races is seeing people do new things I’ve never seen before, meeting new friends, improving my riding skills, winning, and my number one favourite thing is collecting my holeshot prizes!!!
What do like to do when you’re not racing?
When I’m not racing I’m playing hockey (Go Predators!!!), power skating with coach Amanda, skipping with coach Arielle, playing with friends and trying to stay up past my bedtime… like I am now!!!
Who would you like to thank?
HMX Racing & Training, FXR, GPP Suspension, Inglis Cycle, MD Distributions, OG’s Optics, Forma, D&D Moto Products, Different Breed, Natty Seats, Mika Metals, Atlas, Matrix, Deft Family, my family, friends, spectators and thank you for the interview!
With Karidreya’s big goals and dreams, I think she has the drive and determination to have a bright future with lots of podium visits. Could this young rider be the future Canadian MX Ladies Champion? There is definitely a possibility.
