Monday Maniac #51- R.I.P #82

By Gauldy 107

‘Twas the Night before Christmas and all through the house, is my Dad is his underwear much bigger than a mouse LOL. Preparations for Christmas day are in full effect, as I have about 25 plus coming to my parents to celebrate the best day of the year. There’s not much to talk about in the moto industry at this time of year. Everybody has settled into a comfort zone where work should not be important, and family should take precedence. Funny how I say that as I’m writing this Monday Maniac. But really is this considered work? Writing words about a sport you like, and expressing thoughts at a great time of year. Not work really, but enjoyable time spent in front of the confuser. Haha

This blog will be short. I have time to spend with my family today. I do want to share the entire 2012 “Moto: Inside the outdoors” with all of you. If you haven’t seen this series, today is your chance. Today is a day where you sit around while watching movies, eating, sleeping/napping, and in between all that present wrapping. This series of amazing videos from the 2012 outdoor series really helps put the sport of motocross in a better perspective. We all know how hard this sport is physically and mentally, yet in Canada we still think the US has it all good. We are under the impression that they never have any problems with their tracks, bikes, money, family, sanctioning bodies, promoters, etc. For some odd reason we constantly think that the US has it all right. Well, this series of videos with the riders that have been selected really opens your mind to the issues they have that we don’t necessarily get to see. Now obviously it’s more dramatic then need be, but hell, who doesn’t like drama these days. This soap opera feel to these videos really makes a racer appreciate the sport more. At least it did for me. This time of year is always about reflecting on what or who we lost, what could have been done differently, or friends and family we may not have stayed in touch with.  We get lost in the marketing schemes that are in front of us for this holiday season, but in our hearts we never forget to be human and remember all the good and bad that go on in our lives. For the people that read this, motocross is a huge priority. We let it take over our lives and sometimes it puts us in situations that are tough to get out of. Watching these shows will help open your mind and realize it is just a sport, it is something that should be fun and it is tough to be the best. Each and every one of us has the chance to be the best in the greatest sport in the world, but it’s hard and sacrifices are made at every turn you take. Watching these videos will help you appreciate what you have, make you enjoy it more, and want to keep it longer. You just never know!!!

#82 R.I.P Frederick Laflamme. He passed away yesterday at 15 years old from Cancer. My deepest condolences to the family. This is not the way the Christmas is supposed to be celebrated. So very sad.

Happy Holidays to each and every person that reads my blogs, and to you and yours a very Merry Christmas.
