The 3 Q’s With Ryan Lockhart Presented By Matrix Concepts Canada

MXP: Hey Newf! You’re finally back from Alberta, and no doubt getting ready for Spring in BC. Overall, how did the two weekends of racing go in Rimbey?
RL: It was a good two weekends in Rimbey. Entries were good, spectators were good, and racing all around was pretty entertaining. The second weekend it was super cold which made it a little uncomfortable, but we all managed. Pro-side was great with Davies, Amyotte, Rempel, Porter, Dodds, Ufimzeff and a couple intermediates. Every main event was fun to watch and these guys got to make some money in the off season. Hard to believe this was the fourth year of Ironhorse AX. It’s a nice little event to break the winter months up.

MXP: The racing in Arlington last weekend was pretty exciting, with battles for the lead in both main events. The 250SX East class is certainly deeper than the 250SX West class, who are you liking to win the 250SX title in the East?
RL: I always love when SX switches over to the East as it feels like A1 again. It’s still way too early for me to have a favourite, but you can’t not be impressed with Jo Shmoda’s performance with only a few days on the bike. If Cole Davies didn’t go down in the first corner, I think he would have been in that top three mix for sure and to be honest, it’s about time that Pierce Brown got a win after a few years of injuries etc. I’m excited to see how this all plays out in the next few weeks.

MXP: The 2026 Monster Energy Supercross Series heads to Daytona this weekend. There is always something special about the Daytona SX, with so much going on in the city. What are some of your best memories of racing in Daytona during Bike Week?
RL: You’re right! Daytona is special and even being at home it seems more special to watch on TV compared to other races besides A1. I raced Daytona 3-4 times over my career and it was always a good time. Best memories would be just being there with so many people, also just racing under the lights was cool as there is so much history at the event. I was in that day qualifier with Travis Pastrana when he did the backflip over the finish line and I almost hit his bike (laughs). That video always comes up around this time of year.
