The 3 Q’s With Ryan Lockhart Presented By Atlas Brace Canada

The Prairie Hill MX Track was in great condition for Round 2 of the Triple Crown Series.

MXP: We are now two rounds into the 2026 Triple Crown Series. What are your thoughts on the series going back to Pilot Mound, and what did you think of the Prairie Hill MX track?

RL: Third times a charm and I think it worked out well. I mean what else can you say with how beautiful and pristine the facility is, you can really see how much pride Kyle Mccannel takes in his property. As far as the track goes it was good, but of course it got really dry towards the end of the second motos. Not much they could have done with sun and windy conditions, but over all I thought it was a good weekend, and it was nice to see them have a successful national considering the last time we were there, it was a muddy mess.

Preston Kilroy is still the man in the 250 class, but the kids are coming!

MXP: The 250 Pro/Am looks to be building some momentum to be a real dog fight in the east. Being the defending champion, Kilroy is still the man, but it’s sure going to be fun to watch riders like Wey, Johnson, Malinoski, and Rempel challenge him in these next few rounds?

RL: Yes, you are right. I think this championship is going to get really tight in the upcoming rounds. I think what we are going to see is Kilroy play the consistent card, but the others that you mentioned are going to continue winning motos. We haven’t seen the best of Johnson and Wey yet, and we all know that Rempel caught fire last year at Ste. Julie. We are in for a good series either way, but the one thing that I will say is, Kilroy’s consistency is going to be key, but if he’s not careful these guys could catch him off-guard and put some points into him.

If you want to stay up front or get up front, these next two weeks are very important for your mind and body!

MXP: If you were still a pro national rider, what things would you focus on, heading into the east rounds of the Triple Crown Series?

RL: The most obvious thing would be, to make sure to get some motos in on the sand. Also getting used to doing some long motos in the heat is key as well, but at the same time, make sure you are well rested, and ready for the grind of 5-straight nationals back-to-back. If you are still working towards being in better shape, I can tell you that it’s too late. Rest, recovery and maintaining is the key word for the next 5 in a row.
