MXP: With one round remaining in the 2026 Triple Crown Series, the GDR Honda enters Round 8 with the points lead in both the 250 Pro/Am and 450 classes. Obviously, Dylan Wright has been in this position before, so he has a lot of experience to draw from. But without giving too much away, what is the plan for Dylan Rempel next week and in the days leading up to Sunday?
RL: I mean, it’s an exciting time; there is no question of that. But, as you can imagine, it’s a bit stressful. Dylan [Wright] knows the task at hand, and I do not doubt that he will do exactly what needs to be done. We all have to remember how good he was at Walton last year, before the bike issues during both motos. As far as Rempel goes, he’s never been in this position before, and I will say that I was happy we had a break in the schedule before the final round. We have had two good weeks of fine-tuning some things on the bike, and Dylan had some work to do on himself as well. May the best man win. Malinoski is riding great, and with just three points separating these two, the plan for Rempel is a simple one.
MXP: Overall, how has your 2026 summer adventure in the East been? Have your kids been enjoying themselves at Gopher Dunes?
RL: It’s been fun. You know it is a big commitment, and there are a lot of moving pieces that go into this. Randi working remotely isn’t always easy, and then there is the work I have to do. But the kids have been having a great time. They love being at Gopher Dunes. The ease of going riding, fishing, riding bicycles, and hanging out with friends is great for them. They did the pre-Walton camp last week and had a great time. This summer has gone by so fast; I can’t believe it’s almost over.
MXP: The 2026 Walton TransCan begins this weekend at the revamped Walton Raceway. You’ve been coming to this event for a long time. What are some of your best Walton TransCan memories?
RL: Walton is always an event we look forward to, and there is even a bit more excitement this year with the Keast family taking it over. I never did have much success there as a kid, but I will say I loved it when I came back as a Vet in 2012 and understood how to really enjoy what the event has to offer. It was also really cool when Meston got on the podium in a moto in his last year of 50s. That felt special to see him up there. We shall see what the 2026 Walton TransCan holds for us next week!
