The 3 Q’s With Ryan Lockhart Presented By Atlas Brace Canada

MXP: Hey Newf! You wrapped up the 2026 Future West MX Series last weekend in Revelstoke. Overall, how did the series go this year in BC? Also, is the Revelstoke track ready for a possible Triple Crown Series round in the future?
RL: We had a great series overall in 2026. Our entries where up across the board which is always nice to see and we lucked out with having great weather for just about every round. We announced on the weekend that the WCAN will take place in Revelstoke on May long weekend, which is very exciting, I think it’s the right location to host WCAN. The track and facility keeps getting better and better. As far as a Triple Crown Series round, yes, I do think it’s possible in the future and something I would really like to push for. It won’t be in 2027, but I could see it on the schedule for 2028 if everything keeps going well for the Revy Riders club.

MXP: We asked Derek Schuster this last week, but we wanted to get your thoughts on Dylan Wright. We all know about his struggles during the 2024 and 2025 seasons, so it was great to see him turn things around this summer and win his 6th Triple Crown Series Championship. Apart from that, his final moto rides at the Redbud in 2022, England in 2024, and then on Sunday in France have been simply incredible. What are your thoughts on how our team captain performed in France?
RL: I think we all know that Dylan is a world class rider and athlete. He has something special in him that when everything clicks, he can compete with the best riders in the world. I think what is even more unique with him is, we see these types of rides like you mentioned, but he does it by just jumping into their series and tracks, which is hard to do. When he did the GP’s during Covid a few years back, every single moto, he just kept getting better and better as he was getting more comfortable. His performance in France was good, but I also think he rode very conservative considering what he went through back there in 2023. He’s not willing to die trying anymore and I respect that a lot.

MXP: We are almost to AX season and the 2026 West Coast AX Championships are right around the corner. How are things looking with just over a month to go before the opening round. Have you and Kyle [Beaton] come up with some cool track designs for 2026?
RL: We are in a good place. Everything is pretty much organized, and in place, and now it’s just a waiting game come event time. We are excited, as last year was our first year and we learned a lot and have new ideas on how to make things more efficient and better. The platform and structure we have works, but we are always looking at ways to fine tune. I try to keep my nose out of the track as that’s Kyle’s wheelhouse, but as always, he will come up with something fun that will work for all skills of riders. I always admire that he can design and build a track that creates good racing for the amateurs, but yet still offers big technical lines for the pros. That takes skill on his end to be able to do that.
