Behind The Lens Presented By Troy Lee Designs Canada- The Final Battle At Walton Raceway

It’s hard to believe that the 2023 Triple Crown Series MXTour is now a part of Canadian Motocross history. The summer went by fast, and when the final checkered flag was waved on Sunday at Walton Raceway, it signified the end of our outdoor series and the unofficial end of summer. Thankfully, we have some incredible memories and, in all honesty, a few weeks of summer remaining. The racing was exciting at the final round as riders excelled on the new Walton Raceway track design. In the end, both Dylan Wright and Ryder McNabb successfully defended their 450 class and 250 class championships in dominating fashion. Congratulations to everyone on a great summer of racing, and now let’s look at some James Lissimore photos in this week’s Behind The Lens Presented by Fox Racing Canada.

Prior to the Walton TransCan there were some questions about the new start. However, in the end it appeared to work great. Here Noah Viney grabs the holeshot in the opening 250 moto.

The MX101 FXR Racing Team is as much a large family as it is a race team. On Sunday, they watched one of their favourite son’s race his final professional race. Thanks for the memories Maff!

Shawn Maffenbeier rode great in his final race and ended up on the 450 class podium. Here he leaves the gate early to lead his fellow riders on their final sight lap of the day.

Winning titles at this level takes a large group of people doing everything they can to find success. This summer, few did it better than the KTM Canada Red Bull Racing Team!

Derek Schuster is going to have to build a bigger wall at Gopher Dunes in order to find room for all the GDR Team’s Championship plaques. On Sunday, Dylan Wright did it again and took home yet another 450 Title.

Both Ryder McNabb and Mitchell Harrison rode great this summer, but in the end, it was McNabb who successfully defended his 250 Championship.

Dylan Wright dominated both motos on Sunday and now he will head south to compete in the final two rounds of the Pro Motocross Championships.

The former teammates celebrated their incredible summer with some love on the Walton Raceway Natural Double.

Although his final moto ended prematurely, Jess Pettis had a solid summer and ended up second OA in the 450 class.

After a trying summer Tanner Ward put it all together on his favourite track and finished second overall in the 450 class.

It appears that Josiah Natzke loves Walton Raceway, regardless of which direction the track goes. On Sunday, he rode great to win the OA in the 250 class.

After setting the fastest time in qualifying Tyler Medaglia was looking to finish off his summer with a win. Unfortunately, a hard first turn crash in moto one knocked him out for the day.

Tyler Gibbs rode solid this summer and thanks to some addition support from the WLTN/Kawasaki/Seven MX Team he had his best rides in the east.

Jeremy Mckie rode solid on Sunday and ended up 6th overall in the final 450 points standings.

Fresh off his solid races at Loretta Lynn’s, Preston Masciangelo had his best race of the summer in the opening 250 moto. Look for Preston to be getting some great support for the upcoming Triple Crown Series SXTour in September.

On Sunday, Sam Gaynor did what he’s been doing all summer long. He raced both the Pre-Mix and 250 classes and rode great. Congrats on a healthy and successful summer Sam!

Crayden Dillon raced the Intermediate class all week at the TransCan and then moved up to the 450 Pro class on Sunday. In the opening moto, Crayden rode to a solid 12th.

Julien Benek had a great day at the final round going 5-5 for 6th OA.

The final round at Walton Raceway always brings out the fans!

Quinn Amyotte was one of the most improved riders of 2023 as his starts, fitness, and results were incredible. If it wasn’t for an ugly finger injury he would’ve most likely finished the 250 Series inside the top five.
