In past years, whenever the Monster Energy Supercross Series landed in St Louis, the riders were excited to race in the best dirt of the season. Unfortunately, because of a lot of wet weather in the Midwest, the dirt this year was almost as soft as the dirt in Indianapolis. All day long, the riders were tested as the St Louis track was extremely challenging, and some went as far as to call it the toughest track of the series thus far. In the end, it was Haiden Deegan taking the win in the 250SX E/W Showdown main event, while Ken Roczen took his second win in a row in the 450SX class. Now, the series moves back down South to Nashville for one of the most popular races on the calendar. *Photos by Matt Wellumson
SX loves the Midwest and the Midwest loves SX. Even though he says he’s fine, many feel Eli Tomax is dealing with some sort of injury. After his hard crash last weekend in Detroit, Hunter Lawrence was still able to finish on the 450SX podium on Saturday night. Cole Thompson continued his four-race streak of qualifying for 450SX main events. After winning the 450SX LCQ, Cole got an interview and some TV time. Ryder D has shown a lot of speed in recent weeks, but hasn’t been able to translate it into good results. Seth Hammaker rode well in St Louis and finished on the 250SX class podium. Preston Masciangelo has been riding very well lately, but in St Louis, he missed the 250SX main event by a few spots. Since returning from injury, Jorge Prado has earned the reputation of being a good starter and hard to pass. After his win in St Louis, Ken Roczen has moved to within 5 points of the 450SX series lead. The dirt was soft, and the ruts were deep in St Louis. After a solid race last weekend, Chase Seston had yet another mishap during the 450SX main event. After the 450SX main event, Ken Roczen calls his family to tell them he won again. What is wrong with Eli Tomac? The first turn in St. Louis didn’t give the riders much room. Your 250SX class podium. Ken Roczen is getting used to this winning thing.
