Five Alive With Cole Thompson Presented By Parts Canada

This past weekend while competing in his first race for his new Serco Yamaha Team, Cole Thompson had a great night of racing at the opening round of the 2022 Australian SX Series. Cole won his heat race and then battled back from a poor start to finish second in the 250 main event. It was a solid beginning to the series down under for Cole and he hopes to continue his success at Round 2 in Adelaide this weekend. We caught up with Cole for five quick questions as he was busy preparing for Round 2 in Australia. 

MXP: Hey Cole! How was the first race with your new Serco Yamaha Team?

CT: It went well and it’s great to be working with this team. They’ve been super helpful with the short amount of time we’ve been working together. Yeah, everything is great so far. 

How did you find the track to be in the opening round?

The track felt basic but had its own challenges with slick patches in certain corners. Also, this was my first time hitting a ramp jump for a finish line so I was a little nervous. However, it ended up being a cool part of the track.

That jump looked pretty cool on TV. Overall, how is Australia so far? Have you tried a meat pie yet?

Australia is amazing, everyone I’ve met so far has been so welcoming. Yes, I tried my first meat pie, very impressed with the taste and experience (laughs).

That’s great! They’re so good! You’re back at it this weekend in Adelaide. How are you feeling?

Yes, Round 2 is this weekend in Adelaide and I cannot wait to see another city in Australia. I’m sure I’ll have my hands full as the riders are pretty fast down here. But all of this racing should help me when I return to AMA racing in January.

We hear that you already have a lot of fans down under even though you’ve only been there a few weeks?

Yes, people have heard of me down here mainly from my TikTok videos, but nonetheless, I’ll take what I can get. They call me the “Celebrity TikToker” so that’s kind of cool.
