Leatt Welcomes GASGAS/ Cobequid/ Mountain Sports Race Team

CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA, 31st March 2022 – Leatt Corporation along with Kimpex Inc, their Moto distributor in Canada, is proud to sign on their first Canadian Motocross race team. The South African Company has come a long way since its beginnings in 2004. As well as their revolutionary neck brace, they now offer MOTO and MTB head-to-toe gear, boasting the most advanced protective technologies. All the necessary testing, exceeding the ratings already required in each market, is carried out in their Cape Town lab.

CANADA IS NOTICING THEM IN A BIG WAY

For the next two years, the Leatt Family welcomes the GasGas/Cobequid Mountain Sports race team. Their riders will be sporting Leatt helmets, goggles, and protection. The talented Tyler Medaglia will also be rocking the Leatt 5.5 Flexlock boots. Tyler has been training in Florida at GNCC events to boost his fitness. He will be competing full-time in the Canadian Triple Crown Series as well as in select AMA Pro MX and FMSQ races.

“For the volume I ride, comfort is a priority. The last thing you want in a 3 hour race is a nagging pressure or distracting discomfort. My 5.5 boots have the right mixture of light weight, protection, and comfort that I need for all my riding and racing. With my Leatt helmets the true to fit medium fits my head perfectly and it’s extremely light. I notice even at the end of a GNCC race my neck isn’t tired from holding my head up. Even with heavy sand or mud on the top of my helmet, it doesn’t slide down over my forehead. Very impressed with the Leatt products and I’m very confident putting them on myself and my son!” – Tyler Medaglia

His son Talon has already got several swanky new helmets, all with Leatt’s 360-degree Turbine Technology. While training in Florida, following in his Dad’s footsteps, he plans to hit multiple AMA sanctioned USA events as well as Coast to Coast Canadian races for the Triple Crown Series, all related amateur events, including the TransCan and ECan. To top it all off, the young rider will participate in select FMSQ and Atlantic MX series events.

The Atlantic Canadian legend Mitch Cooke, inducted in the Maritime Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2018, is on the team as well. He plans on racing select Canadian Triple Crown races and events in the Atlantic Motocross series. He is currently training in Florida to be ready for Pro MX and select AMA races.

Finally, the young-up-and-coming Justin Burge will be sporting the new Leatt 5.5 Flexlock boots, helmets and protection. He’s also set for a packed schedule this season, planning to take part in multiple Pro/AM races in the US, and all major amateur races in Canada, including the TransCan, ECan, and Atlantic MX series.

Zoe Verbauwhede, Leatt’s Canadian brand manager is working very closely with the team:

“We’re thrilled to be supporting a team with such a range of riders. Tyler Medaglia along with Mitch Cooke have a ton of experience. We expect very positive results from both them and Justin who’s already collecting a lot of hardware in the US. And of course, being able to support a younger rider like Talon is totally awesome.”

Kimpex, committed to making sure the team has what they need, when they need it, has this to say:

“We’re proud and happy to support the Cobequid riders by supplying them with Leatt products. We wish Tyler, Talon, Mitch and Justin the best of luck with their race season!” Team manager Alex Parker has brought the team together and is stoked for the season: “One of the hardest parts about running a race team is finding protective products that check all the boxes. With Leatt, we have that! Lightweight, Comfortable, Durable, and most importantly – High quality and safety.

Having Leatt come on board with our program has been a huge deal for us, it’s awesome knowing that such a great brand has our backs and is there to keep our riders safe while competing at such a high level.

The team over at Leatt have been amazing to deal with, and we’re proud to be able to show people the benefits of the Leatt products!

Thanks for the support!”
