Monster Energy Supercross Historical Notes Package – Race 3 – Angel Stadium – Anaheim, CA

Angel Stadium will host its 68th Monster Energy Supercross race, 22 more than the next closest stadium, the old Pontiac Silverdome just outside Detroit.

The 450SX Class Champion has won at least one race inside Angel Stadium in 24 of 36 seasons racing in Anaheim.

Angel Stadium is one of just two venues where siblings have won, with Tyson Vohlan (1986) and Tallon Vohland (2000).

Collectively, Angel Stadium has been the stadium where each competing manufacturer has achieved its most success in terms of wins, including Husqvarna’s first ever 450SX Class win at the opening race.

450SX Class

Jason Anderson became just the seventh rider to win at Angel Stadium in both the 450SX and 250SX Classes.

Ricky Carmichael, Jeremy McGrath, Chad Reed and James Stewart are the winningest riders in Anaheim history with eight wins apiece. Reed won most recently with back-to-back wins in 2014.

Ken Roczen has won three of the last seven races in Anaheim.

Angel Stadium is now the only venue in which all six competing brands have won a 450SX Class Main Event.

26 different riders have won a 450SX Class Main Event at Angel Stadium since 1976, the most of any stadium in history.

Five riders (Ryan Dungey, Jeremy McGrath, Ken Roczen, Chad Reed, James Stewart) have won in Anaheim with two different brands. Ricky Carmichael is the only rider to do so with three different brands.

Jeff Emig, the 1997 champion, never won in Anaheim in nine career attempts. He recorded just one podium finish at Angel Stadium.

This weekend’s visit to Anaheim will mark 15 years since Jeremy McGrath’s 72nd and final 450SX Class win, which happened at Angel Stadium.

250SX Class

Cooper Webb has the opportunity to become the second-winningest 250SX Class rider in Angel Stadium history, equaling Jake Weimer’s total of four. Only Ivan Tedesco has more with five.

With a win, Webb would also become the first 250SX Class rider in history to win four straight races in Anaheim.

Only seven times in 28 seasons has the Western Regional 250SX Class Champion failed to win in Anaheim. Broc Tickle (2011) and Shae Bentley (2000) are the only champions that didn’t when the schedule included multiple visits to Angel Stadium.

Nathan Ramsey had an incredible five years between 250SX Class wins in Anaheim (1999 & 2005).

32 different riders have won a 250SX Class Main Event at Angel Stadium since 1985, the most of any stadium in history.
