In the past decade, having insurance on just about everything you own or lease has gone from optional to pretty much mandatory. These days there are more risk than ever, and more chance of something happening that is completely out of our control. However, choosing an Insurance Company isn’t easy as there are many factors to deal with. Also, finding that perfect fit for what you need isn’t easy, depending on what your needs are. To highlight one of the awesome companies that support our sport and the people in it, we caught up with iKoniK Insurance to see how they can help all of us get insured.
MXP: Hello and thank you for taking the time to speak with us today. Before we get to some of the interesting things that iKoniK Insurance has to offer the motocross community, can you please give us some background information on the company?
Thank you for having me. iKoniK Insurance is a brokerage built on one core principle: personal service with real expertise. Our team has decades of combined experience and we specialize in both personal and commercial insurance—everything from homes and vehicles to fleets, contractors, and yes, powersports. We’re passionate about protecting the real people —especially in communities like motocross where passion meets real risk.

MXP: That sounds very interesting. With society being the way it is today, how challenging is it to be an Insurance company?
There’s no question—today’s world presents more risk than ever. From extreme weather to cyber threats and inflation driving up repair costs, it’s a challenging landscape. But being a brokerage, we’re not locked into one company—we work with multiple insurers to find the best solution for our clients, even as the world changes. The real challenge is education—helping people understand what they’re covered for and where the gaps are. That’s where we come in.
MXP: In our everyday lives there are multiple areas that we need insurance, whether it be car insurance or home insurance. Does Ikonik offer these types of policies for the general public?
Absolutely. We offer auto, home, tenant, condo—you name it. What makes us different is that we tailor every policy to the person, not just the asset. We also bundle policies to save people money and simplify renewals. Whether someone rides a dirt bike on the weekend or owns a full contracting business, we can insure both their lifestyle and livelihood under one roof.

MXP: Before we get into motorcycle-specific items, what type of customer service does Ikonik offer?
We offer direct, personal service—no call centre, no 1-800 limbo. Every client gets access to a dedicated advisor they can call or email directly. We do annual coverage reviews, proactive policy checks, and we’re fast with paperwork. In a claim situation, we act as your advocate. Wje have 24/7 claims service too – so we are always here for our customers. We take pride in being both responsive and reliable. That’s what makes us different—we’re in your corner, not just your inbox.
MXP: Okay, let’s talk about motorcycles and in particular the sport of motocross. With people in the motocross industry owning everything from dirt bikes, to tracks, to trailers and motorhomes, does Ikonik offer policies for these items?
Yes—we insure all of that and more. Dirt bikes, ATVs, side-by-sides, trailers, motorhomes, toy haulers—we understand that for many riders, it’s not just a hobby, it’s a lifestyle. We do not just offer insurance for our customers either, we also offer real advice. If you make us your broker partner we will keep you best interests top of mind. We offer coverage for personal use, competitive use and we even insure the accessories—aftermarket parts, transport gear, tools, etc. It’s all customizable to your setup.
MXP: We mentioned tracks. In this sport, we have public tracks where competitions are held throughout each year. But we are having more and more private tracks being built by properties who simply want to have their own track to ride. How can Ikonik help these private track owners with getting even just simple liability insurance for their property?
We work with insurers who understand the unique risk of private motocross tracks. Whether it’s a backyard training loop or a full-sized private circuit, we can arrange liability coverage that protects the property owner if someone gets hurt on their land. These are custom policies based on frequency of use, rider access, and whether events are held. The key is transparency—we ask the right questions to get you properly protected.

MXP: So what you’re saying is that every private track owner should have insurance?
Absolutely. Accidents happen—even among friends or family—and a single incident could lead to a lawsuit. Liability insurance protects the track owner and their personal assets. It becomes even more critical if you want to turn your passion into passive income and collect fees for people to use your track. It’s a small price to pay for peace of mind, especially when the alternative could be financially devastating. If you’re building a track or already have one, let’s talk before anything goes wrong.
MXP: If someone wants to get a quote on insurance or find out more information, what is the best way to contact iKoniK?
The fastest way to get a quote will be by phone 905-901-1890. Or you can email us at info@ikonikinsurance.com to arrange a time for us to contact you at your convenience. We’re happy to schedule a free coverage review or just answer your questions.
MXP: With your experience, where do you see the insurance industry headed? Do you envision a day when we will need more and more items in our lives to be insured? Or are we already there?
We’re already there. From bikes to drones to e-bikes to smart home tech, people are using—and depending on—more equipment than ever. At the same time, liability risk is going up, not down. I think the industry will shift even more toward personalized, usage-based policies. The key for customers will be having a broker who helps them stay ahead of the curve—not just react when something happens.
MXP: Thank you for your time today. Before we let you go, can you tell us what, in your opinion, is the oddest item that you’ve had to insure for someone?
You know what—oddly enough, I don’t usually remember the items. I remember the people. What stuck with me wasn’t the “thing” being insured, but the passion behind it. One of my memorable motocross clients is a family who built a track on their property but also wanted the ability to obtain residual income from hosting track days. They didn’t just want coverage—they wanted to protect what they built for the community. That’s what makes this work meaningful. We’re not just insuring stuff. We’re protecting people.
