The 3 Q’s With Ryan Lockhart Presented By Atlas Brace Canada

Click here for all you need to know about Round 2 of the 2026 Future West MX Series.

MXP: Hey Newf! There were two races last weekend, so Canadian MX season is now underway. The AMO Racing OPC opening round was a success, although the weather wasn’t exactly spring-like. How was the Future West MX opening round in Kelowna?

RL: It was absolutely unbelievable. 600 entries which is the largest attended race in the history of BC besides the 2023 WCAN in Kamloops. I couldn’t believe it, new people, the regulars and some that I haven’t seen in years made it a crazy but fun weekend. Overall, the weekend went fairly smooth all things considering with how many riders there were. We had very few injuries, perfect weather and big gates which produced some awesome battles. Motocross is healthy in BC, so we need to keep the ball rolling.

Can Ken Roczen deal with the pressure of being so close to the points lead in the 450SX class.

MXP: Who would’ve thought a rainy afternoon in Cleveland might decide the 2026 Monster Energy Supercross Series 450SX Championship, but things sure changed in a hurry at Round 14. Tomac sadly crashed himself out, Lawrence struggled and lost valuable points, but Roczen had another weekend where he demonstrated that he wants this title. Three races to go, this weekend looks like a for sure mudder. Who do you like right now for the 450SX Championship, and do you think it’s going to come down to the final main event in SLC?

RL: Oh man I still can’t pick haha. These points swings have been crazy and what even make it more difficult is Hunter straight up smoked Kenny in Race one last weekend but then was off a bit in the second two. I want Ken to win, what a story this would be, but with a potential mudder this weekend, who knows? It’s going to come down to the last round depending if something disastrous happens this weekend, which I hope it doesn’t. What a time to be a fan of the sport.

Noah Porter is fit and ready for the 2026 Triple Crown Series.

MXP: We want to ask you about Dusty Rocks MX Yamaha rider Noah Porter. Last year, he had a quiet 450 series before really finding his groove in the final few rounds. This kid is young, motivated, and for 2026, he has some solid support. What do you think about Noah and how high in his ceiling this summer in the Triple Crown Series?

RL: This is the first year Noah has hard any real support, also the first year that he has done training and riding in the winter which is crazy to think especially after seeing some of his rides last year. I know last year it was his conditioning that was holding him back a little, but there is no excuse this year. I think we can see him in the top 5 in some motos here and there. As we have seen in the past, he is a great starter, so that will help, and with just having more preparation, he should be able to dig deep in those last 10min of the motos.
