MXP: Hey Newf! The first question we have for you this week is about the Monster Energy Supercross Series. With the first weekend off in the series now upon us, who does the break benefit the most, Chase Sexton or 450SX points leader Cooper Webb?

RL: For us fans the week off is a bit of a bummer since the racing has been so good, but I would have to think that pretty much everyone else besides Cooper Webb is looking forward to the weekend off. The week off is a good time for the reset button, especially for Chase Sexton, who is now 15 points down with 8 rounds remaining. He’s not out of this thing yet, but he desperately needs to click off some wins here starting next weekend. For Webb, the weekend off will be fine, but when you have momentum like he has at the moment, you just want to keep things going.

MXP: One of the tracks that the 2025 Triple Crown Series will be going to this summer is the Ste Julie circuit in Quebec. You’ve raced at this track several times in your career. What is your best memory from Ste Julie and do you think it will make for a good round in July?

RL: Ste Julie is a cool track. It has a lot of elevation changes as the track runs in and out of a valley. I have raced here many times over the years and it will really be all dependent on how the prep is. The dirt isn’t the easiest to work with as it’s quite hard-packed, but with the proper amount of water, it gets rutted and produces good racing. As far as my best memory goes, I would have to go with 2006. I came into that season very ready and Ste Julie was the opening round. I pulled two good starts that day and probably should have been on the podium in Moto 1 after a great battle with John Dowd. I never did end up passing him, but I felt like I rode well. The end result was just okay, but I remember fighting hard both motos.

Newf feel that Preston Kilroy will be a title favourite this summer in the 250 class. Photo by James Lissimore

MXP: You mentioned last week how competitive the 250 class is going to be in the 2025 Triple Crown Series. Which riders do you think will be in the fight for the title this summer?

RL: The class will be spicy no doubt. McNabb, Kilroy, Walsh, Rempel, Kerr, Viney, Gibbs, and I’m sure I’m missing a few names on the list. When push comes to shove, I really think the top two are going to be McNabb and Kilroy battling for the championship. I know that both are hungry to win with their current situation. It’s going to be fun to watch.
