MXP: Hey Newf! How have the fall Future West events been going?
RL: We have only had one round so far in Revelstoke, and honestly, it couldn’t have gone much better. The location of that place did exactly what we wanted: to pull riders from BC and Alberta. We just had just shy of 500 entries and some really good racing. Some fast kids from Alberta and BC showed up, which was awesome. We also had a decent number of pro guys. The potential for Revelstoke is something that makes me excited for the future of maybe being able to host WCAN and even a pro-national. We have Williams Lake coming up this weekend.

MXP: It was announced last week that the AMO AX Series will return to Chilliwack in late November. If a few riders from the East were thinking about travelling to BC to race this four-round series, what can they expect, and why do you think it would be a good idea?
RL: I mean, anyone who has followed BC Arenacross or who has attended in the past knows that the venue is unreal. A big track, indoor pits, and an all-around fun couple of weeks with tons of riding are what make it a good idea. We look forward to this event, and with this being the second year of being run under AMO, I think it could be the best yet. If anyone from the East wants to come, please get ahold of me, and I will try my best to help out in any way I can.

MXP: We had Tyler Medaglia, Dylan Wright, and Kaven Benoit racing the FMSQ XC race last weekend. Tyler is back at the Corduroy Enduro this weekend, and Quinn Amyotte will join him on the starting line. Tyler is used to these events, but what do you think of other full-time moto guys racing these off-road races?
RL: I don’t really have an opinion on whether they do it or not. I believe it has helped Tyler to be an all-around better rider, but I will say that you need to be prepared. It’s a different ball game, and the bike setup is very important. You can’t just show up with a moto setup and think you will do well. These off-road guys are legit. I mean, look at Dylan last weekend; he just went in with his moto setup and struggled. Tyler takes this stuff very seriously with preparation, and it shows.
