THE MONSTER ENERGY KAWASAKI PRO CIRCUIT RACING TEAM SECURES IMPORTANT SERIES POINTS

The Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit racing team traveled to the Ottawa region this past weekend for round 4 of the 2020 Triplecrown series. With rain in the forecast for a 3rd weekend in a row, the team was prepared for any conditions. Despite some ups and downs through the race weekend, all three riders left Sand Del Lee MX Park with consistent results and their championship standing in good form.

Matt Goerke started the weekend with the intention to secure and potentially improve his 3rd place standing in the 450 MX Championship. Despite the deep mud and the poor visibility due to the rain, Matt kicked off the first moto with a powerful race, going from 7th to 3rd place and landing on the podium once again. On Sunday, Goerke put his KX 450 in the top 5 right out of the gate. After a few mistakes in the first laps, Matt had to work hard, but was able to make it all the way back to 5th place. To conclude the penultimate round, the #2 Kawasaki rider ran a very consistent 3rd moto, riding 4th for the whole 17 lap moto and dealing with his teammate’s pressure from the first corner to the checkered flag. With his 3-5-4 results, Matt fell just short of the overall podium with 4th Overall on the day.
“It’s a short series, so even though the results I got this weekend were not exactly what I had in mind, I still have my sight on the top positions of the 2020 450 championship.” – Matt Goerke

Also in the 450 class, Tyler Medaglia kept it consistent with a top-5 finish in all 3 motos. The Saturday moto was not the easiest for Tyler who started just inside the top 10 and had to work his way through flying mud and slower riders. By the end of the race Medaglia was able to put his KX 450 in 5th position. The next morning, the #5 hometown hero, had a great 2nd moto running in 4th for the most part and showing great strength and stamina by setting his fastest lap time on the very last lap. The last race of the weekend ended up being a non-stop Kawasaki team battle for Tyler as he spent the major part of the moto putting pressure on his teammate. Medaglia concluded round 4 with a 5-4-5 result sheet, giving him 5th overall on the day and keeping him inside the top-5 in the 450 MX Championship.
“I’m thankful for the team and everyone who has been working with us for the past weekend. We are making progress and we are ready for the last round!” – Tyler Medaglia

Marshal Weltin came in to round 3 with a lot of expectations. After a win during the past weekend and multiple podium appearances since the beginning of the season, the 250 Kawasaki rider knew what he was capable of. Unfortunately, Marshal had to deal with a 24th place start in moto 1, leaving him with a lot of work to do and a shorter moto than usual due to the difficult water conditions. Weltin made pass after pass to finally cross the finish line in 5th place. On the 2nd day, Marshal had some great battles going from 8th to 6th and finishing within seconds of 4th place. For the last race of the weekend, Weltin grabbed his best start yet and was able to put his KX 250 just off the podium in 4th place. With a 5th place overall, Marshal was able to accumulate more valuable points towards his 2nd place in the 250 championship.
“Starts were a struggle this weekend, but I am happy that I was able to keep it consistent despite all the mud and weather issues. One more round to go and I’m ready to make it a good one” – Marshal Weltin

The Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit racing team will now make its way to the final race of the MX Tour portion of the 2020 Triplecrown series.
