Last weekend at Round 5 of the Monster Energy Supercross Series in Oakland, fans got to witness exciting racing in both the 250SX West class as well as the 450SX class. After playing second fiddle to teammate Justin Cooper, Star Racing Yamaha rider and defending 250SX West Champion Dylan Ferrandis was able to charge through the pack to win the main event. In the process, Ferrandis took over the points lead and will now carry the red plate into Round 6 in San Diego. In the 450SX class, Eli Tomac was on another level as he not only passed 450SX points leader Ken Roczen once, but also a second time after giving up the lead at the mid-way point of the main event. Cooper Webb also had a great night in Oakland as his final corner pass on Roczen gave him a well earned second overall. Now the riders move back down I-5 to San Diego for the final West Coast round before the series heads east to Tampa. Let’s look back on some incredible photos from Oakland for this week’s Yamaha Motor Canada Behind The Lens.

Adam Cianciarulo was up front early on in the 450SX main event, but he slipped back to 4th by the end.

Blake Baggett was once again very fast in Oakland, but he could only find his way to 9th by the end of the 450SX main event.

Justin Barcia had some bike troubles in his heat race and it forced his Yamaha team to do a quick engine change before the LCQ.

Justin Cooper had another stressful weekend in Oakland, and although he ended up in third he would lose the points lead in the 250SX West.

Austin Forkner had the Oakland in the bag until a hard charging Dylan Ferrandis forced his way past for the 250SX West win.

After giving up second place and allowing Cooper Webb to sneak by in the final corner, Ken Roczen was visible upset after the main event.

Ken Roczen’s bike set-up has been solid so far in the opening five rounds and it really shows in the challenging corners of SX.
