As exciting as the opening round of the Monster Energy Supercross Series, so is the first time that the series heads to the other side of the country to begin the eastern races. After six exciting races on the west coast, last weekend the SX circus headed to Tampa, Florida for Round 7. Not only were the 450SX riders excited to race in the different time zone, but so were the 250SX East riders as this was the opening round of their series. Racing in the Sunshine State is always exciting and Saturday evening at Raymond James Stadium was no different. In the 450SX class, Eli Tomac dominated the main event after passing his Kawasaki teammate early on. Tomac’s win also gave him the points lead heading into Round 8 in Dallas this coming weekend. In the 250SX East class, Shane McElrath showed that his off-season switch to the Star Racing Yamaha Team was a great idea as he took the win. As we said, now it’s on to to Big D and the massive Cowboy’s Stadium in Dallas for Round 8. For this week’s Yamaha Motor Canada Behind the Lens we take a look back at some great Tampa Supercross photos from Mike Vizer.

Jace Owen rode hard in the 250SX East main event and ended up finishing in 11th.

Justin Brayton was happy to be back in the east coast and he rode solid to finish up in 9th in the 450SX main event.

Broc Tickle made his long awaited return to SX in Tampa. Riding a JGR Suzuki, Tickle rode strong to finish up in 12th in the main event.

Still suffering through some rib injuries, Chad Reed made it to the main event but could only muster a 19th place finish

We’re surprised that Adam Cianciarulo hasn’t won a main event yet in 2020 as he’s come very close. However, he’s been riding great and a win can’t be far off.

As the 2020 450SX Series goes on Cooper Webb appears to be getting stronger and stronger. In Tampa, the defending champion finished in second.

Jason Anderson has had a tough few weeks in the 450SX class and right now he sits 35 points behind Eli Tomac.

As the riders head to Dallas for Round 8, Ken Roczen is going to have to find a little more speed if he wants to regain the 450SX points lead.

Round 8 in Tampa was also the St Jude event where our sport raises money for the St Jude Children’s Hospital.

Racing in his first event for the Star Racing Yamaha Team, Shane McElrath took home the win in the 250SX East main event.
