Behind The Lens With Frank Hoppen: Dallas Supercross

As the 2015 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series moved into the massive AT&T Stadium in Dallas, TX. Frank Hoppen was once again on hand to witness Ryan Dungey and Marvin Musquin make it an all orange KTM sweep. Here is the Dallas SX through the lens with Frank Hoppen.

dallasfield

With the surrounding area in Arlington being very flat, the AT&T Stadium stands out like a massive monument. I guess in some ways, that’s exactly what it is.

Inside AT&T Stadium there is a lot of room to walk around, however since it’s a football stadium the floor in actual quite small.

dallasruts

Even though the dirt they use in Dallas is very hard packed, riders still had to deal with some very deep ruts.

dallasgolden

Suzuki rider Vicki Golden tried her best in Dallas but came up well short of making the night program. This weekend in Atlanta should go better for the popular female rider.

dallasanderson

In Dallas Jason Anderson was once again the model of consistency taking home a hard earned 6th place in the main event. After seven rounds Anderson sits in a very impressive 5th overall in the 450SX points standings.

dallasbogle

The 2014 250SX East Champion Justin Bogle rode strong in Dallas to finish in 2nd place. As you can see by these two photos of Bogle, he certainly doesn’t lack any style.

After a fantastic outdoor season in 2014, Jeremy Martin is now looking at adding a supercross title to his resume. In Dallas Martin rode conservatively to finish 4th in the 250SX main event.

dallasmusquin

Heading into the 250SX East Series, KTM rider Marvin Musquin was one of the favourites to win in Dallas. Well, the French rider definitely didn’t disappoint and lead wire to wire to take the opening round of the series.

dallasweimer

Jake Weimer didn’t have a great night in Dallas and finished a distant 14th in the 450SX main event. Like a lot of riders, the type of start they get in the main event strongly determines their result.

dallasseeley

With his podium finish a few weeks ago, the next step in Cole Seely’s progression as a top rider is to find the consistency to make him a front runner every weekend. In Dallas Cole finished 10th in the main event.

dallaswey

At each round of the 2015 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series the LCQ has been a battle to see who make’s up the final few spots in the main event. In Dallas Nick Wey was one of the lucky ones who forced his way in with an aggressive pass on Kyle Chisholm.

dallaspeick

This weekend Weston Peick made his long awaited return to the series. Unfortunately after transferring directly to the main event from his heat race, Peick crashed in the main event and finished 22nd.

dallasmillsaps

So far Davi Millsaps is having a year that we’re sure he’d like to forget. In Dallas, Millsaps ran up front early in the main event only to suffer one of the strangest crashes we’ve seen in a long time when he just ‘looped’ out for no reason.

dallasgrant

After weeks of struggles Josh Grant finally had a main event to be proud of finishing inside the top ten and in front of his teammate Chad Reed.

dallascanard

In what could be considered his hometown race, Trey Canard rode very smart to finish 3rd in the 450SX main event.

dallasreed2

These next two photos pretty much sums up each Saturday night for Chad Reed in 2015. A few moments of greatness followed by a less than stellar start in the main event and poor finish. In Dallas, Reed got run high and taken out by Eli Tomac early in the final and had to settle for 11th.

dallasroczen

Ken Roczen has to be a little puzzled that the speed he had on everyone at the beginning of the series now belongs to his former teammate Ryan Dungey. In Dallas, Roczen had nothing for Dungey and finished a distant 2nd.

dallasdungey2

What can you say about Ryan Dungey? In Dallas, he came, he saw, he dominated the main event and extended his points lead in the 450SX class.

dallasdungey

There are a few reasons why Ryan Dungey is now the fastest rider in this series, one of them is that he seems to be having more fun than ever before.

dallasktm

Congratulations to the Red Bull Fox KTM Team for their clean sweep of both classes in Dallas.
