Last weekend in Houston, fans witnessed exciting racing as this round marked the first Triple Crown event of 2026. All six main events had everyone inside NRG Stadium on their feet, and in the end, it was the Star Racing Yamaha riders, Haiden Deegan and Cooper Webb, taking the overall victories. Now, it’s onto Round 6 in Glendale and what is sure to be a hard and slippery track for the riders of the Monster Energy Supercross Series. However, before we move to the desert, let’s take a look back at the Houston SX through the lens of Matt Wellumson.
Jason Anderson has been showing some great speed so far in 2026. What is up with JCoop? He’s riding well, but he cannot buy a good start. AVL Husqvarna rider Blake Davies had his best ride of the 250SX West Series in Houston. Deegan was simply on rails in Houston! So far in 2026, Deegs has been on a different level than the his fellow 250SX West riders. Ryder D is having a solid season so far in the 250SX West Series. Let’s hope he can remain healthy for 2026. Dylan Ferrandis has been okay on his new Factory TLD Ducati. Hunter Lawrence was just one small mistake away from winning the overall in the 450SX class. Hunter’s late race speed is soon going to pay off and a win is not far off for the HRC rider. Cameron McAdoo has been riding well and if Deegs faulters, he could get a win soon. Young Dax Peck had a blast in the KJSC race and did all of Canada proud. Whatever Prado is doing before the main events, it’s working as he’s been getting great starts. Ken Roczen had a off night in Houston, but was still able to get onto the 450SX podium. Chase Sexton was fast in the whoops all night long, but struggled with his starts. Cole Thompson rode well in Houston, but came up one spot short of making the night show. Eli Tomac rode another great race at Round 4, but a big mistake in main event #2 cost him the OA win. How great has it been so far in 2026 to watch Tomac riding so well. While other riders were making mistakes, Cooper Webb remain solid and took the OA win. Vincent Wey has been riding well in the SMX Next races, and it’s going to fun to watch him this summer in Canada. Your 250SX West podium from Houston! This week it was Cooper Webb taking the top spot on the 450SX podium.
