Behind The Lens From San Diego Supercross- Presented By Kimpex Canada

This past weekend, the 2025 Monster Energy Supercross Series headed to Snap Dragon Stadium, located just outside San Diego for Round 2. The weather was cool and sunny as the riders took to the track for what ended being one of the most exciting nights of racing we’ve witnessed in some time. In the 450SX class, it was Eli Tomac and Jett Lawrence who battled it out for the entire main event. Tomac would hold on for the win, as well as the points lead heading into Round 3. In the 250SX West class, Julien Beaumer took the lead early and never looked back, taking his first-ever supercross win. Now, the series heads back up the I-5 to Anaheim for Round 3 this Saturday. However, before we look ahead to Anaheim, let’s look back at the San Diego SX through the lens of James Lissimore.

The stage was set for Round 2 in San Diego!

With the west coast races starting at 5:30pm local time, it’s not quite dark for opening ceremonies.

After a podium finish at the opening round, Jason Anderson came into San Diego a little under the weather.

Justin Barcia had another solid night finishing 8th in the 450SX main event.

Here Beaumer makes an early pass for the lead before taking off with his first SX win.

New Zealand teenager Cole Davies is the real deal. In SD he lead early and ended up 4th overall.

Justin Cooper struggled at Round 2 and could only muster up an 11th place finish.

After missing the night show last weekend in Anaheim, Blake Davies stormed back at Round 2 and qualified much better.

After finishing 14th in the LCQ at Round 2, we can’t wait to see how Blake does in Anaheim.

Raise your hand if you had Deegan sitting 4th in the points after two rounds.

The new Ducati 450 was once again on display in San Diego.

Hunter Lawrence was also sick at Round 2, but held on for a solid 5th place finish.

Unfortunately, Mitchell Harrison had a big practice crash and was forced to sit out the rest of the day.

Jett started in front of Tomac in the main event, but the Yamaha rider made an early pass and rode off with the win.

Jett appeared happy with second and admitted the HRC Team made big strides with the bike.

Billy Laninovich is over 40 years old but still throwing big whips.

Caden Lee had Vince Friese’s bike once again ready to go at Round 2.

So far in 2025 Preston Masciangelo has been fast in the 250SX West class. Sadly, he crashed hard in the LCQ.

Aaron Plessinger has been struggling with some illness through the opening two rounds.

Jorge Prado was quiet in San Diego, but rode well to finish 12th in the main event.

Ken Roczen once again looked great in San Diego and came away with a 4th place finish.

After winning a week ago in Anaheim, Chase Sexton went down on lap one and had to charge back to 6th. It was still a solid night.

Jo Shimoda clipped a pit board in qualifying and broke a few fingers. Still, he dug deep to finish 7th overall.

There definitely isn’t much room in a SX first turn.

St-Cyr tried to ride practice but was still too sore from his crash at A1.

Cole Thompson started well in the main event, but ran into some issues and dropped back to 12th by the end.

Eli Tomac has been the fastest rider through the opening two rounds, and that is why he’s the points leader.

It was great to see Tomac celebrate his big win with his family.

Noah Viney rode great at the opening round, but a hard crash in practice injured his shoulder.

The top riders love to win but hate to lose. See you at A2!
