Whether it was Cooper Webb coming from behind to win the 250SX main event, or Chad Reed surprising everyone with a very strong second place finish, the action was intense inside San Diego’s Petco Park. Our own Cole Thompson also had a great night at round 2. Although he did get a bad start in the main event, Cole put his head down and charged hard to finish 12th. It was a great night in San Diego and Frank Hoppen was there to capture all of the action for this week’s Behind the Lens.

After a great heat race win to begin the night, Dean Wilson got off to a bad start in the main event and could only manage a 15th place finish.

Although Eli Tomac doesn’t have a podium finish yet in 2016, the Monster Energy Kawasaki is riding very smart as he comes back from injury.

Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider Joey Savatgy had a great ride in San Diego, but came up just short of the win.

After a bad start in the main event, Cooper Webb was forced to come from behind for the his second win of 2016.

Jake Weimer looks very fit and comfortable on his new 2016 KX450F. In San Diego, Jake got off to a great start and held on for a very solid 8th in the main event.

So far in 2016 Ken Roczen has been very fast and has been close to the podium. However, a small off track excursion in the main event pushed Roczen back to 6th.

Zach Osborne led the 250SX main early on but wasn’t able to hold off a very hard charging Cooper Webb. Zach would then make a mistake late in the race and finished a disappointing 6th.

Just like at the opening round in Anaheim, Cole Thompson got off to a bad start at round two and then had to charge back to an impressive 12th.

Cole Thompson looks to becoming more and more comfortable with each lap he takes on the tracks of the 2016 Monster Energy SX Series. With a better start in the main event, Cole could be a top five rider.

Once again Jason Anderson had a great ride in San Diego, however a mid race pass on a red cross flag penalized him back to 5th.

So far in two races Cole Seely has two podium finishes and is well on his way to becoming a 2016 championship contender.

Chad Reed is flying high so far in 2016. He and his new Yamaha seem to be in perfect sync as he battles for podium finishes.
