Royal Distributing Fox Head Canada KTM rider Kaven Benoit clinches the MX2 CMRC Canadian Championship aboard his KTM 250SX two-stroke! Kaven was the points leader and red plate holder heading into the final round of the championship at Walton Raceway in Ontario. Kaven arrived at Walton Raceway with a 42 point lead over 2nd place. In order for Kaven to clinch the championship, he needed to earn 9 points. Not only did he do so, but he earned a solid 2nd place overall finish on the day. Tyler Medaglia was impressive all season holding onto 3rd place round after round. The MX1 class was jam packed with talent as Medaglia battled for race wins each weekend. Going into the final race of the series at Walton, Tyler had an 8 point lead over 4th place. Tyler earned an impressive 4th overall on the day at Walton which secured his 3rd place championship finish. Track conditions were not ideal, but both riders persevered. The weather started out Cloudy Sunday morning but later cleared as the sun came out. The track conditions proved to be challenging Sunday as it had rained the day before. The track builders at Walton worked extremely hard to make sure the track was in the best possible condition for racing. They could not have done a better job of prepping the race track.
In the MX2 class Royal Distributing Fox Head Canada KTM’s Kaven Benoit was looking for redemption after sustaining an injury last season. Kaven wanted to win the championship more than any other rider this season. He worked extremely hard in the off-season and was “ready to race” at the opening round of the CMRC Canadian Nationals. He held onto the points lead and the red plate for the entire season and was crowned the MX2 champion today at Walton Raceway. Kaven was top five in practice and went 3-1 for 2nd overall on the day at Walton, which was more than enough for Benoit to earn the coveted championship win. “I have been working hard for this championship over the years. I am extremely happy that it has come to fruition. I would like to thank my entire team and all my sponsors,” Says Benoit. Andy White had a few words to say about Kaven Benoit, “I am very proud of Kaven for winning the championship he dominated the series by keeping the points lead.”
In the MX1 class Royal Distributing Fox Head Canada KTM’s Tyler Medaglia was able to secure 3rd place for the 2nd year in a row. Tyler rode strong and fought hard all season to secure his place in the championship hunt. Tyler went 3-6 for 4th overall on the day at Walton. Tyler had a few words to say about securing 3rd place in the championship. “It is a great feeling to be atop the podium and to finish with 3rd place two years in a row, I would like to thank the entire team and congratulate Kaven on an incredible season.” “I am pumped that Tyler earned 3rd place finishes both last year and this year” said KTM Canada Team Manager Andy White.
