Well, our favourite ginger girl is all grown up and married the man of her dreams, Mr. Alex Bunko! I flew out to Comox on the weekend for Camille and Alex’s wedding, which was absolutely amazing. Beautiful weather and they both looked stunning! Rachel, Summer and I shared a room together and it was great to be girly for a weekend, dressing up, doing hair and makeup, and getting the gossip to catch up on. I must say we moto girls clean up pretty good, although this isn’t something we could do every day (Way too much work and effort). We have a lot of great ideas for the upcoming year that you will all have to wait and see.
It feels like everyone is growing up so fast. It has been almost 10 years ago when I met Camille and Rachel. We were young girls travelling around Canada racing the Women’s National Series. Who would have thought we would find long lasting friendships from racing motocross. I consider these girls my closest friends because even if we live far apart we can always pick up right where we left off. We understand each other and have a big passion for what we do. I say this all the time and I will say it again, it doesn’t matter where you live, the motocross community will always be family!
I can see all of the relationships forming with the younger girls at the national series. One of the biggest things I can point out being around the nationals is that after the motos are done you will always find the girls walking around the pits together. It doesn’t matter who beat who or if someone took another person out, there are no egos, and everything is left on the track. With most of the guys you would never see that! I guess you could say the women racers don’t have as much drama as some of the guys do…:p, which is why when our women’s series almost got cut from the program everyone came together to turn our series around to what it is today.
There have been many years of great experiences and lasting memories with these girls. Can’t wait to see what the future has for us all. Now someone else needs to get married so we can all get together again! 🙂
