After years of wearing the same brand of riding gear, yesterday Eve Brodeur announced that she had signed with FXR Racing for the 2020 racing season. Eve is coming off another very successful season both on and off of the track. Not only did she take home multiple races wins, but she recently graduated from College, too. To get her thoughts on her new FXR Racing deal, we gave Eve a quick call while she was at work. But, before we get to Eve and how she’s feeling, here is what FXR Racing’s Andy White had to say about their newest rider. “It’s exciting when you sign a 4-time Canadian champ, but this one is especially gratifying as Eve Brodeur is a true ambassador for the industry and for Women’s racing across North America. We have been really looking forward to partnering with Eve for a very long time. Her father, Sylvain, is also a true ambassador so it was a very easy decision to sign this wonderful family.”
MXP: Hey Eve, thanks for taking my call this morning. I know you’re at work so we won’t be too long.
EB: It’s okay, I’m glad you called.
Well, before we get to your exciting FXR news, let’s talk about school for a minute. The other day you announced that you’re now a College graduate. Congratulations Eve!
Yes, I just graduated from College and now I’m moving on to University next fall. I’m pretty excited about it as it’s great to get it all done.
You’re such a great role model Eve, I think it’s great that you’ve been able to balance racing at a high level, as well as your education. I’m sure at times it’s very difficult, but you’re doing it really well.
Yes, it’s taken a lot of work and a lot of time, but it’s all good.
So when do you plan to start University?
In September I’ll begin classes at either McGill or the University of Montreal. Until then I’ll be training and getting ready to race this coming season.
What are your racing plans for 2020?
My family and I are heading down to Florida over Christmas to ride and just have fun. Then in March I’ll head back down south to get ready for the MXTour Nationals. The plan is to once again do both the west and east series in 2020. We had so much fun going out west this year that we want to do it again next summer.
Well, that’s good to hear as it was awesome to have you racing out west this year. Okay, let’s talk about this new FXR Racing deal. This looks like a great early Christmas present for you. How did this deal happen?
I guess it’s been coming for a long time as my dad and Andy White have been good friends for a long time. As you know I’ve been a Motovan rider for the past few seasons and they’ve supported me very well. For 2020, it was looking like my deal was going to be changing so my dad and I started to look elsewhere. FXR Racing was an obvious choice and I’m so happy that we’ve finally been able to team up.
FXR has been very aggressive with supporting riders during the past two seasons. Obviously, whatever they’re doing it’s working as you’re now seeing FXR gear on a lot of riders. This looks like a great partnership.
Yes, we’re very happy about it and I cannot wait to get down to Florida to try the new gear and new 6D Helmet out.
So the plan is to head down south over Christmas and do some fun riding?
Yeah, we’re just going to head down to hit up a few different tracks and have some fun. Then we’ll head back home, and I’m actually going to Sri Lanka in January for a few weeks, so I’m excited about that.
Are you going there to ride or just hang out?
I’m actually going there to visit and to hang out. I’m excited about it as I’ve never been outside of North America before. I’ve visited almost every State and every Province but I’ve never really travelled. I can’t wait to get on a plane and see what’s out there.
That sounds like a very exciting trip and also it sounds like you have another exciting year ahead. I think I speak for everyone when I say that we can’t wait to see you on the track in 2020 wearing your new FXR Racing gear. Please say hi to your family and wish them a Merry Christmas!
Thanks Chris! Same to you and your family and thank-you for calling.
