The GoldenTyre brand of off-road motorcycle tires was established in Italy 30 years ago. Its cutting edge design and durability has gained visibility and traction rapidly. GoldenTyre has teamed up with the likes of world renowned accomplished off-road riders like Graham Jarvis and Johnny Walker in an effort to develop the best products in the business. These riders have validated the efforts and achievements of this relatively new product with their top results and accomplishments. The GoldenTyre flag is currently being run on the Motocross GP circuit by top 2015 contenders Jake Nicholls and Stephen Frossard.

With GoldenTyre’s broadening global recognition and on-track success, Mike Nicholls saw fit to bring this great product to Canada five years ago. GoldenTyre in Canada is currently providing ‘The Midas Touch’ on the Motocross track to the likes of Todd Minnie, Jake Striechert, Michael Dasilva, Teagan Williams and Super Mini rider Tyler Gibbs. GoldenTyre has also teamed for 2015 with Team PR-MX.ca as well as GP Moto for their Enduro team.

Hello again friends, once again I am happy to officially signify through what is becoming a weekly tradition here at the site that we are set to officially lift off into another great weekend. Weekend of what? Well, that I will leave up to you but if it involves a snow shovel on this first day of spring I am sure that Mother Nature, if she was not already, is officially off your Christmas card list. First off, on a somber note, I would like to mention that the Motocross community lost a couple of our own last weekend in BC as both John Persic who was only 54 years old and Gord Stewart who was even younger left us suddenly. I spent a lot of time at the motocross track with these two individuals creating many unique memories over the years, and like the passion that bound us will be with me forever, Godspeed my friends.

Even though there are seven calendar months this year with 31 days, March, to this race fan, feels like the longest. The Supercross season is winding down, and with the daunting stack of chips the current point leaders and their connections are guarding admirably, the 2015 trophies look to be on their way to the engravers. The racing has been good. Outside of the title chases, there have been many first time occasions. Congratulations to Cycle North’s Kourtney Lloyd and Adam ‘The Seven Deuce Deuce’ Enticknap for stamping their first ticket of the season to Saturday night’s main event in Indianapolis. I have gotten to know Adam over the course of the last six months and can tell you whole heartedly that the score sheet and what you see on your television will never come close to justifying or illustrating the effort put in by ’Team 722’. Nice work Adam, keep it going! MXP Mag readers can look forward to a full length article in next month’s issue.

I know we are still two and half months away, but with warmer weather and longer days I am really starting to get a sense that the anticipation for CMRC’s 2105 Rockstar Energy Drink Motocross Nationals to get underway is heating up. Thankfully for all the technicolour glory of the social media driven era we live in, we are able to follow the progress of our favourite riders and title candidates. Most riders are generous enough to privy voracious fans like myself to image and video posts of current progress, and those that are not, coach wants to see you. Sponsors are always more likely to team up with a rider who is willing to live in a bit of fish bowl and share what he or she is currently up to in the way of striving for the targeted long or short term goals.

I believe that this year our pro national series in both the MX-2 and MX-1 classes will see titanic battles week in and week out culminating at the finale in Walton. Heading into 2015, we will have a lot of seasoned, experienced series veterans mixed with a solid core of up and coming youth. Who will have that winning formula that will be needed to overcome that which will be thrust their way from not only their competitors but Mother Nature and Lady Luck? Our series is a coast to coast battle royale, which will feature 20 Motos (hopefully) in each class with some of the best decorated athletes this country has seen on the race track lined up together at one time. I would love to see a young upstart jump up and have doubters proven wrong week in and week out, but something tells me that one of the most valuable commodities and trump cards come gate drop May 31st in Kamloops will be experience. Let’s face it, with names that I could add here to the tune of about 15 or 20, our series will not lack for contenders in the form of savvy veterans.

The highly coveted number one plate, which will be mounted on the Gopher Dunes Honda and worn by Colton Facciotti, will be the focus of much anticipation and attention on May 31st and beyond. Will Colton successfully fend off all challengers? Will his winning formula and legacy that resembles that of a fine wine continue to appreciate and grow? I caught up with our current MX-1 champ while stationed at the Georgia Practice Facility and got his thoughts in this great interview. Have a listen.

Until next week, Brent ‘Airmail’ Worrall out…..
