This award is built upon a dear friend who passed away in November. Her personality was infectious and her presence will never be forgotten. Carline poured her whole heart and soul into everything she was a part of. She had a huge impact in the Motocross community so the Bachman family would like to present an award in her honor, for the rider who follows in her footsteps and puts her heart into everything she does both on and off the track.
Rookie Of The Year Award: Trophy & $100
New rider to the series who has good results or improving results with a great attitude towards the sport and series.
Now down to the competitors, here is a sneek peek at some of the girls who will be making their mark this summer.
HAILEY LARSON 1w, She has won 2 west titles so far. She is the favorite to win, Will she do it?
Hailey will be back this season to defend her title and try for another to make it 3 in a row!
We asked Hailey what she has been doing to get ready for the upcoming season. Here is what she had to say “I wasn’t sure how things were going to work out this summer, so I spent a lot of time working to save up money in case i needed to pay for everything, while i was doing that I did a lot of mountain biking. Marin Bikes gave me a bike last summer so I’ve been tearing up the trails on that, and its way cheaper then moto so I could save up more. I ended up getting a deal with Devil’s Lake, so as soon as that was official I started racing on weekends and riding more during the week.”
SARA KING #5, I would say she is one of the most consistent riders. 5th overall the past 2 years, this year i think she has what it takes to improve that overall. Her main goal for the summer is to get a top 3 finish in the women’s nationals
BRITTANY DANYLUK #6, This girl has crazy style on the bike! And she is one of the top ten competitors. We asked Brittany how she is going to deal with arm pump; a racers worst nightmare during a race!
“Arm pump… Well this is and always will be the toughest thing that holds you back from a race. It doesn’t matter how much you ride and practice of course you never get it than, but as soon as those races come your nervous and have all that adrenaline going threw your body its hard to NOT have arm pump! My biggest thing this winter is I’ve been doing Cross Fit, so figures crossed that this will help, and possibly let the legs hang on more than the hands!”
Any girl who is looking for some help on suspension at the races, make sure to check out Brittany’s trailer, she started a suspension business called RLUKMX!
DOMINIQUE DAFFE #10, she finished 10th overall in 2013. She also won the most improved rider award. Since then she has continued training in california in the winter. Her learning curve is insane, it will be interesting to see what she bring this season.
Shelby Turner #2,She has been one of the few that has been able run the pace that Haliey has set.Turner will not be able to attend each national round due to other dirt bike related obligations. She will be racing endurocross at X-games Go Shelby go! But with the absence of Shelby who will be there to challenge Hailey?
Larissa McGlynn #4, in 2013 she was running the number 6 plate. This summer she moved up to the #4 plate. We asked he what or who inspires her. After hearing her answer do not be surprised to see her in the top 3 more often “My older brothers have always been the people that have set the bar for me, they’ve taught me lots of what I know how to do today. I will always chase after them, they have been my inspiration since age 4.”
JAMIE MURNO #8, at Kamloops last summer Jamie only raced the first moto then she left the track to get all glammed up for her prom. That is dedication right there. While other girls would be trying to deiced what shoes to wear at prom Jamie was out battling with the top women racers in Canada before heading to prom. Her goals this summer are to end up on the podium or to finish 5th overall, and with prom done she will have a good shot at achieving her goal.
Bailee Pozdnekoff #9, she is one of the girls that always has a smile on when you see her. She loves riding her bike. Her goals for the summer are to riding consistently and have fun. To achieve that she has to do what she always does. Her sister Karly Pozdnekoff has moved back to Alberta, with her older sister back Bailee will have someone at all times to help her improve and push herself to got even faster. Will it be a battle of the Pozdnekoff’s this summer?
Courtney Stelter #7, very lucky rider. She told us that she has had arm pump only once or twice in her riding career! How does she manage to keep arm pump away? Courtney also told us that she has been training at Body Rox Cross Training in Leduc,AB. I think that any rider in that area will be checking them out after they read this. Courtney’s goals this summer is to keep her #7 plate and to come out injury free!
RACHEL SPRINGMAN #3, Constantly a top 3 competitor. Springman has the speed and the style on her bike. She is a power house when she is out on the track. Rachel was training in California for a month before the nationals start. During a race in Kelowna last weekend, she got landed on and ended up breaking her arm. Surgery was needed, and Springman will be sitting on the side lines this summer. If things heal up the way they should, there is a possibility that we may see her race the east coast series!! Either way, you can bet she will be back in full force for nationals in 2015.
