FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Friday March 15, 2013. St-Bruno, QC — In a surprise, but very welcoming move, KTM Canada Factory Racing signs Tyler Medaglia to race MX1 (450) at the CMRC Canadian Motocross Nationals. After it was discovered two weeks ago that Dusty Klatt wouldn’t be racing until June, due to a knee injury, KTM set out to find a second rider to support Colton Facciotti in the opening MX1 races (which puts three factory KTM 450 SX-Fs on the Canadian starting line come Round 5 at Gopher Dunes).
“It was very disappointing losing Dusty to injury,” says KTM Canada’s Race Manager, Andy White. “But that’s racing and every time these guys throw a leg over a bike, they are at risk. Dusty is set up with an excellent rehabilitation program right now, with the most knowledge people helping him get back into race shape for Round 4 or 5 of the series. In the meantime, we need a contender to support Colton in the MX1 class and fortunately, we made it happen with Tyler (Medaglia). We’re proud to add Tyler to our team, which remains all-Canadian.”
Despite minimal experience riding a KTM, Tyler’s transition onto his new 450 SX-F has been quite seamless so far.
“This is the first time that I’ve ridden a KTM 450 and I love it!” said Medaglia during e KTM team photo shoot last week at Pala Raceway in Southern California. “It’s the lightest feeling 450 I’ve ever ridden, power is good and I’m just excited to get things going.”
A past moto and overall winner in the MX1 class–and two-time MX2 champ–Medaglia brings with him a new level of maturity and confidence going into 2013.
“I feel like I’m peaking right now, but I’m only trying to think about being as prepared as possible coming into round one,” says Medaglia. “I’m excited for this change and the opportunity given to me by KTM. I’m ready to transfer my success from MX2 to MX1 and expect to be up front every race.”
