I got the Tweet this morning from Pat Barton, current NESC Champion, that he will be riding Pax Track today in Deland, Florida, just up from this weekend’s Monster Energy Supercross in Daytona! For many Canadians and Americans, Daytona has been the one main Supercross to hit during the season that offers the most unique experience. Set in Florida’s Redneck Rivierra, you can see all the happening sights from the college kids at the beach, bikers flooding the A1A for miles on end, bars hopping 24/7, freestyle shows, biker chicks, assless chaps, neon lights, and a host of motocrossers filling in the mix. Most go down for at least a week to hit a few of the many motocross parks all set up and primed. There is never an issue to find a place to stay as you can pull up anywhere and sleep with the sound of a chopper, rat bike, or crotch rocket zooming down the streets like it is drag night. Back in the day, Barton, Fuel-Shane and I would set up shop in the back of the Holiday Inn and have full pool access; always trying to save a dollar. There are way too many off the hook stories with the local O-Town boys fit for “R” rated, not suited for our clean cut website. It is not too late to book a flight down for the race and have some of your own experiences that you can feel free to share with me. frankie@mxpmag.com
