Mail It In Friday

Mail It In Friday.

Friday already… starting to feel like we need a weekend away from the weekends.

Official word today.  Brett Metcalfe has come to terms with Monster Energy Leading Edge Kawasaki to ride the Canadian Nationals this summer. That is a big fish being dropped in the pond boys.

Scott Vandenbourne. A couple years back Scotty raced the Pro Nationals and is/was a pretty decent rider. He use to be from Seaforth, Ontario just down the road from Walton.  He has been up to….well we do not know what he has been doing. We know he likes to jump his snowmobile, on the river, off a dam. Watch and shake your head.

A Cool new indoor bike park is being constructed in Zurich, Ontario. It is about 1 hour from London, close to Grand Bend etc. It is an old hockey Arena being converted over to the new bicycle park. Visit  https://www.facebook.com/ToeBmx (Town Of Exeter BMX). They have  some great photos of the work going on and if you like digging slivers out of your ass this is the place for you!

Bobby, we got your back!

In our second week in a row “Hey AMA, WTF?” moment we look at a little  controversy in the 450SX LCQ. Our man Bobby Kiniry and Weston Peick (could be our man too if he raced in Canada) took it down to the checkers, with Peick losing to Bobby according to the transponders (You know how the race is scored, faster than the eye, etc). HOWEVER,  AMA scorers overruled and Peick ended up getting the spot.  We dont agree with the call, which is our right because it is and we are biased.

However in a very classy move,  Bobby’s team Ti Lube N Fab Yamaha  paid BobbyK the difference between 3rd in the LCQ and making the main event.

Take a look.

We scooped this from Jim Scott’s twitter. Pictured is Hunter Scott giving Dean Wilson some tips on Daytona SX. Notice Timmy Ferry in the background?  Little brother Hunter Scott (right number 46) did.

ESPN has announced that Moto X Best Trick and Snowmobile Best Trick events at X Games are being discontinued. X Games will continue to host freestyle motorsports competition. ESPN released the following statement, “This change reflects our decision to focus on motor sports disciplines which feature athletes who also compete in multiple, world-class competitions [e.g., professional events and tours] reflecting the highest degree of athlete participation, competitive development and the global nature of our X Games franchise. Over the past 18 years we have made more than 60 changes to our competition lineups at X Games events to capture the evolution of the sport and these continue that growth.”

Most team sports really celebrate their past. In motocross, we are such a here today, gone today sport that we do not always remeber our sports greats like we should. Kim Pearce posted this video on the Old School Motocross facebook group page of Daytona. It is a great race, if you have 20 minutes watch it. Especially if you are under 20 years old.
