Don't Miss

Mail it in Friday

Have you ever wondered what some of today’s Supercross stars do when they’re away from the track?  We remember not so long ago no one really talked about what the riders did off the track. These days almost every rider lives a pretty low key life when they’re not racing.  Rockstar Energy’s Blake Wharton does a few different things. Here is a cool video to show what we’re talking about.

In some late breaking news, James Stewart has decided that his wrist is too injured to continue in Supercross.  He has decided to rest it and try to be ready for Hangtown in a month.  Read below the official press release from his camp.  In other unexpected news, the sun came up this morning and it will set this evening.  We know we are not alone when we say that watching JS7 ride is awe-inspiring, but why can’t he stay healthy?  It really is a shame.

CHINO, CA(April 18, 2013) – Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing’s James Stewart announced today that he will sit out the last three rounds of the 2013 AMA/FIM Supercross Championship season in order to fully recover from injury. At last weekend’s Minneapolis race, the Yoshimura Suzuki rider suffered a get-off and tweaked the wrist he’d initially injured at the end of the 2012 AMA Pro Motocross season. He expects to be rested, rehabbed and ready to race at the season-opening round of AMA Pro Motocross in May.

“The decision to sit out the last few races is a tough one for all of us,” said Stewart. “The Supercross season hasn’t been going the best, but I’ve been having a great time racing, thanks to the fans and my Yoshimura Suzuki team. They’ve all been supporting me the whole time. So to have this last little injury – I hurt my wrist in the heat race and then again in the main event – was a disappointment. I think this is the smart decision for us overall and now I’m going to focus on recovering and getting ready for the motocross season. I’m psyched to be on the gate for Hangtown and now I just want to get the 2013 AMA Pro Motocross Championship.”

Although Stewart’s 2013 Supercross season ended prematurely, the Yoshimura Suzuki rider turned in a solid performance, nonetheless. With his win at Atlanta’s Georgia Dome, Stewart became one of just three racers ever to have gone nine straight seasons with a win. Additionally, the 2013 Supercross season saw Stewart race his Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450 to podium finishes at both the St. Louis and Indianapolis events. Finally, Stewart won eight of his heat races this year and he was the fastest qualifier at seven events.

Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing’s next race is round one of the 2013 AMA Pro Motocross Championships on Saturday, May 18th at the Hangtown Motocross Classic in Sacramento, CA.

Have you ever thought to yourself “Man, I am fast”. Then later you see yourself on video and realize “Man, I am slow”. Ryan Villopoto doesn’t have those days. GoPro footage from the Minneapolis Main Event 2013.

The next stop on the 2013 Monster Energy Supercross Series is this weekend in Seattle, Washington.  As usual the forecast is calling for rain and cool temperatures.  Ryan Villopoto is currently 22 points ahead of Ryan Dungey in the 450 SX class. With the possibility of bad weather anything can happen.  This weekend will also see Ken Roczen and Eli Tomac renew their battle for the 250 SX West crown.  It should be a great night of racing in the Northwest.

Spectra Powersports RMR Yamaha rider Brock Hoyer will be lining up at the Seattle SX this weekend.  Look for the #321 on the line doing his best. Brock is a very good Arenacross rider (check out Brock in our MXP Rankings) and should make the night show. Regardless, we will be cheering for him.

As we said on Twitter this week we have heard some good juice about Jeremy Medaglia. Rumour one is that he maybe lining up for the first two AMA Nationals. That would be cool and a great experience. The other story out there is that he has been riding with Adam Cianciarulo who has opened up some opportunities to ride with guys like Ryan Villopoto and Jake Weimer. If this is all true, it is a great step and opportunity for JM. Mulit-time Champion Jean Sebastian Roy talked many times what a boost it was to his confidence and training when Ricky Carmichael brought him on as a training partner for many years.

“Gnarliest track I have ever ridden in my life! Wow, what an experience tonight. 7th, not too bad for my first ever Endurocross race, although I really hoped to do a little better… I’m still learning every time I ride this stuff and tonight was a huge lesson in slick, demanding gnarliness! lol The unknown is over and now know where I stand and what I need to work on and improve. A massive thanks to the Endurocross community for being so awesome and embracing me and my new efforts to be a part of their sport. It’s madness this Enduro sport but so fun at the same time!!” Click HERE to watch the Main event!  Jolene will be wishing you got that start back!

Polish rider Taddy Blazusiak, the 2011 X Games Los Angeles gold medalist and a dominant force on the EnduroCross circuit, was back on top on Thursday, winning the Enduro X finals at X Games Foz do Iguaçu after trading the lead back and forth with American rider Cody Webb, last year’s silver medalist.

Both riders struggled through all six laps of finals on the rigorous course with Blazusiak taking an early lead after going head to head with David Knight, then giving it up to Webb, a former trials champion. The two battled back and forth with each getting caught up several times.

Canadians Cory Graffunder placed 7th and Bobby Prochnau 12th .
