Monster Energy Thor Kawasaki Maintains Points Lead at Nanaimo

Metcalfe retains red plate going into round three

June 8, 2015(Kamloops, BC) Coming off a dominant opening round win last weekend at Kamloops, the Monster Energy Thor Kawasaki team came into Round Two, at Nanaimo, British Columbia’s Wastelands MX Park, on scenic Vancouver Island sporting the red plates of series leader with Brett Metcalfe. Working through the pack in both motos, Metcalfe would end the day with 3-4 moto scores for 4th overall, good enough to maintain the points lead in the MX1 Championship. Metcalfe was happy just to get through the weekend safe and move on to Calgary: “It’s no secret that I’m not a big fan of the Nanaimo track but I knew I just had to play it safe and avoid mistakes. It’s tough out there with the dust and the rocks but I’m glad to keep the points lead and I’m excited to get to Calgary next weekend.”

Bouncing back from a trying weekend at the opening round, Teddy Maier, was forced to come through the pack in both motos, passing a ton of riders on his way to 7-6 finishes for 6th overall. With the big improvement, he’ll no doubt be looking to challenge for a podium next weekend on a track he’s a big fan of.

In MX2, Cole Martinez started off strong with his best moto of his young Canadian career, challenging for a podium on his way to 4th place in the first moto. Unfortunately, on the start of moto two, another rider hit him, forcing him off the track, causing a DNF. He’ll look to bounce back and take the momentum from his first moto as the series moves on.
