Richmond, Ontario (January 30, 2017)
MX101 is pleased to announce their line up for the coming season. Jess Pettis (#16) coming in off winning a #1 plate indoors at the Future West AX Championship. Jess finished 5th outdoors last year with a podium finish at the final round. He has his sights set on podiums and wins with his new-found confidence. Hayden Halstead (#19) will return after a great performance finishing 8th overall in the Championship while pulling double duty as the rig pilot as well. He will join his teammates in California for winter training, which will leave him more prepared than ever to be ready when the gate drops where top five finishes are in his sights. To once again round out the all Canadian Team we are pleased to bring to the program the runner up from the championship last year, Shawn Maffenbeier (#12). Shawn brings to the team confidence, and maturity as he is a seasoned pro and has fought for championships before. With renewed passion and energy, he hopes to make that next step and stand atop the podium when the series is completed. The team will compete in the Rockstar Energy Drink CMRC Nationals with 100% focus on the MX2 Championship.
“We are in a unique situation being the only program solely focused on the MX2 class. It gives us the ability to ensure that all the pieces of the puzzle are in place, and that we are providing the best bikes and support to our riders as we focus on one motor, chassis, and suspension package”, said Kevin Tyler the team manager.
“Our goal is to develop top Canadian talent through programs like the bLU cRU Factory Ride Award and our Pro Rider Support Program. Jess, Shawn, and Hayden have all come through the Pro Ride Support Program successfully over the years, earning their way to the Factory 250 Team. These talented bLU cRU riders will get our full support on and off the track as we make another Canadian 250 champ for Yamaha.” said Bryan Hudgin from Yamaha Motor Canada.
“I am excited to see our partnership continue for a third straight year. The MX101 team does a great job of preparing their riders for the series, we look forward to lots of podiums and a championship in 2017” said Andy White from FXR.
Jess is currently training down south for the winter, and said “I’m very excited to be back working with everyone over at MX101 / FXR / Yamaha. The team is great, supportive and I’m ready to get to the next level and be a regular on the podium outdoors and defend my indoor championship this year!”
Hayden will be making his way across country to warmer weather “2016 was a great year for me, achieving my goals with my best finishes of my career. I am hungrier than ever to fight my way to the front knowing that I have great support.”
Shawn will be making his trek south early in February to join his teammates and begin his testing and training. “I am super excited to be back with Yamaha, one of my longtime supporters, and to be working with the entire MX101 team and sponsors. I’ve watched Kevin and Johnny grow the team over the last few years and am really excited to be a part of the whole program for the 2017 season.”
