MX2 Moto2 report

It is a clean sweep for Leading Edge Monster Energy Kawasaki racer Austin Politelli at the Monster Energy CMRC Motocross race in Calgary, Alberta.

Politelli grabbed the holeshot and never looked back in the second moto of the Mx2. The track, in perhaps the best condition ever witnessed in photo (10)Calgary, became rough and choppy for the racers in the second moto. Behind Politelli rounding corner one was Josh Clark, Kaven Beniot, Topher Ingalls and Blake Savage.

Beniot would slide out adding insult to injury on his day after a first moto DNF. Topher Ingalls began to push the pace of the chase pack. Topher would move to second before pushing the front end in a rutted corner and going down. Clark regained second with Savage pushing him. Within a few laps Savage would toss it away allowing Ingalls and Beniot to get back into the game. Clark began to fade with about 5 laps to go and Ingalls took command of 2nd. Beniot moved to third and relegated Clark back another spot.

Politelli turned back the pace in the late stages, allowing Ingalls and Beniot to put in a charge but time was against them. Clark would cross the line 4th and Jared Allison in 5th.

Clean sweeps for Metcalfe and Politelli at Wild Rose

Brett Metcalfe blitzed his was to his second consecutive MX1 clean sweep of the season to convincingly win Round 3 of the Monster Energy Motocross Nationals at Wild Rose MX Park in Calgary, AB on Sunday.

Although the Monster Energy/Parts Canada/Leading Edge Kawasaki ace seemed subdued during qualifying – recording only the fifth fastest time behind his MX1 teammate Teddy Maier – Metcalfe was more than fast enough when it really counted in the motos. By the end of moto one, he had pulled a comfortable lead and rode his own race; in moto two he had to work a bit harder but when all was said and done he was never really threatened for position.

Completing the MX1 podium were Rockstar Energy/OTSFF/Yamaha Motovan.com’s Bobby Kiniry, who clinched second overall on the strength of 3-2 motos; and MX101 Yamaha’s Jeremy Medaglia, who cleared the task with 2-4 motos.

In the MX2 title hunt, Monster Energy/Parts Canada/Leading Edge Kawasaki’s Austin Politelli stayed on a roll to claim his second consecutive clean sweep and third overall of the season. Like his teammate, Brett Metcalfe, Politelli rode two flawless motos to keep Leading Edge at the top of the scoreboard in both classes.

Politelli was never challenged for position, claiming top spot on the podium ahead of RTR Performance Honda’s Topher Ingalls, second overall on the strength of 2-2 motos; and Devil Lake MX Kawasaki’s Joshua Clark, who recorded third overall thanks to his 4-4 moto results.
