Truro, NS – Following a tough weekend in Quebec, The KTM Thor Racing Team found success at round 7th of the CMRC Series with Orange Brigade Pro-Am rider Tanner Ward.
Unfortunately, Truro was also MX2 reigning champion Cole Thompson’s official last round of the 2017 season. Thompson extended hand and leg injury, sustained a week earlier, will have to be treated in the next weeks. Before the incident happened, Thompson was dominating the MX2 Championship for a second year in a row with a comfortable points lead. Cole is already looking forward to returning to racing in 2018. The whole KTM Thor Racing Team wishes him a quick and easy recovery. “It is what it is… I did everything right for the first 5 rounds of the series and in a blink of an eye my world got turned upside down. The only thing I can do now is focus on getting my body back to 100%. I’m definitely bummed on the way things are ending but I’m already looking forward to the future. Thanks to everyone that have been behind me this season. I will be back stronger!”
The first Maritime round was also MX2 Pro-Am rider Tanner Ward best race weekend so far in 2017. During his 3rd pro race ever, Ward was able to catch the Holeshot and lead for a little while in the 1st Moto. After running with the top riders for more than half of the race, Tanner settled for 5th and ran a smooth race to the finish line. In the second moto, Ward got a mid-pack start, but worked his way up to 6th, never giving up and making a pass on the last lap. Tanner’s great performance left him with a 5th position overall and his best finish of the season yet. “Getting on the podium this weekend, even just for a holeshot, was an incredible feeling. I can really see the positive effect of the confidence I’m gaining every weekend. I’m getting more comfortable mentally and physically. I’m truly thankful for everybody standing behind me and I can’t thank everyone enough for the love and support I’m receiving.”
