Morgan Burger was strong all day. The Sewer Rat Racing Yamaha rider logged 9-8 scores for 8th overall.

Jeremy Medaglia planned to double class the first national and ride both Mx1 and MX2, much to the surprise of many. Unfortunately, he crashed his Yamaha 250F hard in the first practice and decided to ride just Mx1. However he showed everyone he could ride a 450 with the best. He ended his day with 6-3 moto scores for third overall.

Bobby Kiniry went wheel to wheel in moto 1 with Brett Metcalfe at Nanaimo for an impressive 3rd. However, in Moto2 it seemed like he was always dealing with either Tyler Medaglia or brother Jeremy. Bobby was a little annoyed with Jeremy after the moto and said he “learned a lesson today”. Bobby went 3-6 for 4th overall.

Brock Hoyer was good in Nanaimo. He moved up in both motos from soft starts outside the top 10 to finish 11-9 and 10th overall.

Many thought Brett Metcalfe would run and hide on everyone. Metty was good and in the second moto logged the fastest lap time of the moto with a 1:45. However, 2-2 wasn’t the finish he was hoping for. He said after he wasn’t comfortable to push the pace Colton was riding, but he will be next week.

Gavin Grayck wasn’t planning on returning to Canada in 2013. At the last minute he accepted an invitation back to Redemption Racing. 7-7 and 7th overall was a consistent, strong start. Grayck is one rider who will be there each moto in the points.

There was lots of hype around Tyler as a possible winner. Tyler was good all day and admitted that the Nanaimo track is not his favourite place to race. 4-4 was his best big bike finish. He will be battling for podiums from here out.

What can you say about Colton Facciotti. People criticize him that he doesn’t race enough in the off season or suggest he isn’t self motivated. What he continues to do is win. He was dominant against an elite field in Nanaimo on Sunday. 1-1 was a statement. He is ready for war.

One week ago Dylan Kaelin arrived in Kamloops on a 450F he just bought after leaving behind his KTM250F. He has always been smooth, fit, and suited the big bike. 8-11 and 9th overall is a very impressive debut. Kaelin will be battling all season for a single digit at season end.

MX2 start. 17 Kaven Benoit, 19 Spencer Knowles, 16 Brad Nauditt and 13 Topher Ingalls come powering through corner one.

Brad Nauditt has improved each year he has come to Canada. 3-3 was his best moto score to date and tied his best overall with a third in MX2

RTR Performance backed the come back kid from last year in MX2. Ingalls was strong in moto one at Nanaimo, but crashed in moto 2. 2-9 moto scores gave Topher fourth overall for the day.

Austin Politelli was the man in MX2. He dominated the first moto, and looked ready to do the same in moto 2 when he injured his leg. He soldiered through in second. 1-2 moto scores gave Politelli the first overall win of the year in MX2.

TV5 was fast enough to run with the leaders, however crashes held him back. In moto two, his clutch faded out and he took a hard header. 25-DNF was not what he or his team had planned but he will be better next weekend.

19 Spencer Knowles looked strong to start the day with a 5th. Unfortunately a second motocross crash resulted in a dislocated elbow. Huge downer for the kid who came off a strong winter. No word on how long Knowles will be out.

Not the start Shawn Maffenbeier hoped for. The Yamaha two-stroke rider started the day off strong, but then crashed in qualifying. He tried moto one, but the pain was too much. He later found out he broke his collarbone and is out 4-6 weeks.
