ROME, Ga. (USA) March 17, 2016 – The Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, is set to take place at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan this Saturday, March 19, for Round 11 of 17. Located in the heart of the city, the multi-purpose indoor stadium has a history of presenting riders with tricky soil conditions. Featuring topsoil that creates a variety of challenging ruts and slippery medium-hard base underneath, riders will depend on the performance of their Scorpion MX tires to maximize traction.
MAD Racing/Dirt Candy Graphics/Suzuki rider Matt Bisceglia is full of momentum after last weekend’s season-high third-place finish in Toronto. The Texan’s clutch performance improved him several positions in the Eastern Regional 250SX Championship point standings. He currently sits seventh place overall and hopes to maintain the progression this weekend.
After last weekend’s gutsy performance, Motorcycle Superstore Suzuki’s Jimmy Albertson will once again be facing adversity in Detroit as he plans to lineup with a broken sternum that he suffered in Toronto. He will do his best to gain valuable points before the championship takes a break and provides him some much needed healing time. Kyle Cunningham will continue spending his time off from the Western Regional 250SX Class by competing in the more powerful 450SX Class.
Justin Brayton has been nothing short of consistent, including last weekends performance that saw him battle with fellow Pirelli teammate Weston Peick throughout the 450SX Main Event. As the lone rider for the BTO Sports team, Brayton will once again be looking to secure another strong ride.
JGRMX rider Peick was impressive in Toronto, charging to his best finish of the season. He is beginning to gain steam as he returns to form and is determined to inch closer towards the front-runners. Phil Nicoletti re-aggravated his already injured knee and will make a late week decision if he can compete for the Autotrader/Monster Energy/Yamaha squad.
The TPJ Racing Privateer team has been turning strong-consistent performance throughout the season, including riders in both Main Events this past weekend. Nick Schmidt appeared in his ninth consecutive 450SX Main Event and carries the confidence of his best result of the season. Cody Church will be focused on qualifying for his second 250SX Main Event of 2016.
Supercross action from Ford Field gets underway on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 4 p.m. PT and can be viewed on FOX Sports 2. Check local listings for channel information.
