Sewer Rat Racing Press Release – Nanaimo

PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

JUNE 2013 – NANAIMO

THUNDER BAY, ON, CANADA

Sewer Rat Racing – The first round of the 2013 Monster Energy Canadian Motocross Nationals kicked off this past weekend in Nanaimo, BC, and Sewer Rat Racing was there ready to battle with the best in Canada!

Last year at this round it was so wet and muddy in Nanaimo that mechanics almost ended up needing scuba gear just to get their riders to the line and able to race! This year was a different story though, and the rain ended up subsiding by night’s end on Saturday, which set up an awesome day of blue skies and great track conditions for Sunday. (Minus the normal rocks).

Sewer Rat Racing’s athlete, Morgan Burger, started off timed qualifying with the 10th fastest time of the day. Even though that was not where he wanted to be, Morgan knew that he was going to be capable of bettering himself during his motos.

The first moto of the season came around and Morgan got a great start and ended up in the top 10 during the first couple laps, until he caught the wheel of another rider which caused him to crash. By the time he was able to remount and get going he found himself outside the top 20. Once Morgan got going, he put his head down and charged all the way from outside the top 20 to a 9th place finish by the moto’s end…Great Ride!

The second moto of the day, Morgan had set his goals high and was looking for another great moto. Once the gate dropped, Morgan again found himself with another solid start that put him around 12th place at the beginning of the race. He began pushing and started picking one rider off at a time. By the middle of the moto, Morgan charged up to 7th place. A few laps after he made his way into 7th , Morgan made a small mistake and found himself yet again on the ground. Morgan quickly got up and ended finishing the moto in 8th.  At the end of the day Morgan finished 8th place overall in the MX1 class.

Morgan is looking forward to Kamloops where he plans on continuing to improve from his 8th place finish in Nanaimo.
