MXP: First question Newf! Going back to last weekend and Round 2 of the SMX Playoffs, were you on Team Webb or Team Deegan?
RL: Always team Webb, but I will say along with many others that what happened on Saturday, wasn’t just because of the little bump that Deegan gave to Webb. We have all seen situations that were 10 times worse, so there had to be more to this. I can’t imagine that Hayden is the easiest to be around during the week and I’m sure this all really boiled down to respect. From what I know, Cooper has been there to help Hayden and what not, so I can see why Coop flew off the handle when he hit him. It was dumb. Hayden would have passed him in the next section anyway.
MXP: Heading into this weekend and the final round of the SMX Playoffs. Who do you like in the 450 class to win the title?
RL: I really think Prado is going to get it done. 16-point lead is a lot even with the triple points. He’s been putting himself in the right spots when he has to and his ride in moto two last weekend was really impressive. Crazy to think that he is probably going to be the SMX world champion after the disaster of last year, but he’s been really good all year especially in supercross. I think he needs to get a couple good starts this weekend and stay out of trouble and it’s his to lose.
MXP: We were going to ask you about Eli Tomac and where you think he fits on the all-time list in the USA. However, there is starting to be a lot of Social Media posts regarding the upcoming West Coast AX Championships. For riders in the East who don’t know too much about this event, but might want to head out to Chilliwack in November. What can they expect from this four round intense but fun series?
RL: I appreciate you asking this as we are very excited for the WCAX coming up. People can expect a fun, safe, well-built track that is 40+ seconds long which is big for AX racing. We have indoor pits, track rentals, practice days, riding schools, amateur racing, Pro purse, Dash-4-Cash, Pit bike racing, beer gardens, and awesome awards.
