March is here and we kicked the Month off with the 5th of 6 Indoor Thunder Pit bike races. I was on my way back from a week long Quebec snowmobile trip when the race started but caught the majority of the action after missing the practice.
Following are the highlights.
Evan Perry continues his perfect season in the 50cc Beginner division with 3 moto wins and remains atop the series standings. Branden Keys and Caden Koetsier are in second and third but may change positions after the final race on March 30 2013. The points are so close that a missed moto could move Perry down to third.
The 50cc Juniors was won by Jackson Green this week followed by Aaron McAlpine. They sit in 1st and 2nd in the series with Austin Culp in a very close third.
The 50cc Seniors have carried the series to a close finish. Current series leader, Preston Masciangelo grabbed the win over Deagan Hauck and Hunter Bauer. We also found out this week that one of our racers, Preston Masciangelo has qualified for the Las Vegas 50 race and the family is trying to put together the funds to get out there. It appears that most of the Ontario clubs are going to AMB MX transponder systems. While renting a transponder for “life” is a cheap way to get one, It makes more sense to me to purchase the transponder outright and avoid annual renewal fees. The track was groomed and modified Saturday past and is still in good shape. Soon the warm weather will have the dirt moist once more.
