Have you ever wondered what people in the Canadian motocross industry think about Christmas? Well, wonder no more as over the next few weeks we’re going to reach to some pro riders and industry people to ask them some key festive questions. After speaking to Ryan Lockhart and Brett Metcalfe last week, we then switched gears and tracked down Brett Lee and Andrew McEwan. Today we catch up with our 2014 MX1 Champion and new Daddy, Colton Facciotti, to get his thoughts on the holiday season.
MXP: What is your best Christmas memory as a child?
Every Christmas was special as a kid. I think the one that stood out the most was when I uncovered a Honda 50.
MXP: Are you a big Christmas person or not?
I’d have to say I’m in the middle. I love Christmas and what it represents; it’s great to share the time with friends and family members. The part that turns me off is people always seem like they’re in a rush and in a grumpy mood, and people just seem stressed out.
MXP: Where will you be spending Christmas this year?
I’ll be spending Christmas here in Ontario and then we’ll be heading out to BC in January for a late Christmas with my side of the family.

As Colton waves goodbye to 2014, he can look back and feel pretty good about his year. Not only did he win the MX1 Championship but he also became a Father for the first time.
MXP: Best Christmas gift you ever received?
For sure that would have to be my first bike, I was beyond pumped. I remember when I was a kid the worst presents were socks, underwear and clothes, and now there’s nothing better than a freshie set of 2UNDRs or socks.
MXP: Have you even started your Christmas shopping yet?
Jocelyn did most of it while I was just the taxi driver, which was kind of painful because I’m an in and out kind of guy. She took five trips and took her sweet, sweet time looking at everything, but we made a good team and got it finished.
MXP: Would you rather race another Regina mudder or have to go to Wal-Mart on Christmas Eve?
Both are my mortal enemies. It depends though, is it to shop at Wal-Mart or people watch at Wal-Mart? If it’s shopping I choose Regina and if not I’d chose people watching. There are few things better than a good day spent people watching at Wally World.
MXP: What do you want for Christmas this year?
Not much really, I already got one of the best presents ever and that was my baby boy, so I’ll be happy to just to spend the holidays with friends and family and just enjoy it.
MXP: What is your favourite Christmas movie?
Elf and Home Alone are in a tight battle for the top spot.
MXP: Be honest, do you wrap presents yourself?
I have but I’m terrible at it. I leave it to the wifey. She’s way more efficient and saves a couple trees in the process.
MXP: If you ever came face to face with Santa what would you ask him?
I’d ask him how come I never got the million dollar mansion with a track in the backyard for Christmas last year. I was really good last year so I don’t really know what happened. Maybe he’s just saving it up for this year though so I’ll have to wait and see. I’d also like to add that I hope everyone enjoys the holidays and has very Merry Christmas!
