Welders Helper. Com/PDR/Barrie Honda Team Has A Solid Day In Drumheller

June 14, 2022

Race update: Round 2, DORVA MX race track in Drumheller, AB was a much better weekend for Ryan Derry! In contrast, round 1 in Whispering Pines race track in Kamloops BC, was a weekend to put behind us for sure. With a 17th and 15th, somehow the combined overall ended up 18th…go figure?!

The western swing for 2023 are all new tracks for the majority of the pros…except the western pros. New tracks can be refreshing and then sometimes they turn out to be tracks that you just don’t gel with. DORVA turned out to be a fabulous track, but extremely fast! Ryan’s gps watch recorded 90 kph speeds! Mix in some crushing G-outs and big ski jumps, and well you get it, it was not for the faint of heart. Some racers described the track as the most dangerous track going…and it took it’s toll on some of the riders. We have Brock Leitner in our thoughts and prayers, as he had a horrific crash that saw him transported to the hospital for emergency back surgery…we hope he recovers ok.

DORVA was a 3 moto event. Each moto was a 15 minute sprint + 2 laps. Lap times were over 2 minutes and usually the motos took 20 minutes or so. The challenge is to get the bike prepped for the next moto with only 40 minutes to make it to staging in time! To say the afternoon went by fast is an understatement! Moto 1 – 11th place Moto 2 – 12th place Moto 3 – 11th place overall – 12th

Ryan’s Weldershelper.com Honda 450 ran flawlessly, and the Ride Engineered triple clamps and steering damper helped stabilize the bike at mach 1 speeds!

It’s off to Manitoba next weekend, and we will keep you posted!
