At the race track she always has a smile on her face and always has time for her fans. With the help of her main sponsor, Cycle North Powersports, this season Sara is looking to improve on her incredible 2014 results. Sara King of Fort St. James, BC is the subject of this week’s Yamaha Motor Canada Amateur Profile.

MXP: Hey Sara, can we start off by you giving us your age and where your hometown is located?

SK: Sure Chris, currently I’m 18-years-old and I live in Fort St. James in central BC.

How long have you lived there?

I have lived here all my life. It’s a pretty nice place and I like it.

Sara King’s smile is definitely infectious.

I think all of BC is beautiful. What class do you ride and how long have you been riding?

I ride the Ladies and Junior classes, and this will be my tenth year racing.

What have you done during the off-season to prepare for the 2015 racing season?

I have been working a lot to save money for the upcoming race season, however I make time every day to work out until I can start riding again. I know it’s not as good as riding down south but hopefully it will give me a head start.

You’re young and talented Sara, you should be fine. Can you tell us about some of your past racing highlights?

I’ve had a few but I think earning the #3 in the CMRC Western Canadian Women’s Nationals last year is definitely something I’ll never forget.

Yes, you had a great season in 2014. Do you have a favourite track?

I love Pala and Cahuilla Creek in California, those two tracks are probably my favourite.

I’ve never been to those two tracks but I’ve heard they’re great. Okay, so you had a great season last year, what are your goals for this coming season?

Actually, I’d really like to improve on my national #3.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given so far in racing and who gave it to you?

That’s a hard question. I’ve been told so many helpful things from so many great people it would be hard to pick out the best one.

Do you like music? Who is your favourite group right now?

Music gets me through the day, Palms! I’m a country music fan but I’ll listen to anything.

Here is a good question for you – what are you usually thinking about while the thirty second board is up?

Usually I’m thinking about three things: Holeshot! Holeshot! Holeshot!

That’s awesome. What is your video game of choice?

I haven’t played a video game in years!

When you were in school, did everyone know you raced dirt bikes?

Yes, definitely, people knew that I raced and they thought it was pretty cool.

What is your favourite subject at school other than gym class?

I was pretty good in math…but that was not my favourite. I guess I really enjoyed wood working class.

What is your favourite thing to do other than ride a dirt bike?

In the winter I love to snowboard and have fun, however in the summer I don’t really do anything other than ride.

Okay Sara, here is your final question. Who would you like to thank for making all of this possible?

I would like to thank Cycle North, Honda Canada, RMR suspensions/H2R Fox Shox, Spy Optics, Maclean Trucking, Fort Machine Works, my Grandpa, Mom & Dad, Kourtney Lloyd, and Sierra Roth. Thank you all very much!
