2023 Motocross of Nations
Ernee, France
October 8, 2023
With the 2023 MXON taking place over a week ago, everyone has had a chance to assess what happened and accept Team Canada’s result for what it was. At the end of the day, racing is racing, and sometimes you just have an off weekend. Our team gave it everything they had in France, and they deserved a better fate. Thankfully, everyone made it home in one piece, and now that the dust has settled, we can think about how to make an already great Team Canada program even better for 2024. However, before we do, let’s look back at this incredible event in France through the lens of James Lissimore.
Team Canada’s bikes were looking good to start the weekend in France. True north strong and free! This guy should run Bingo night at the Walton TransCan. McNabb and Pettis had their boss there to help out. Team Canada taking in the views on Friday afternoon. There is nothing like opening ceremonies at the MXON. With multiple overseas races now under his belt Dylan Wright is getting very popular in Europe. Yes, the cowboy hat made it to France. The Ernee track looked great on Saturday morning. Christian Craig was a late addition to Team USA and in the motos he looked a little rusty. Dylan Wright gets focused prior to his qualifier. Unfortunately, a few minutes later things went horribly wrong for our champ!Ken Roczen was very impressive in France, winning his class and proving that he still is one of the best riders on the planet. Ryder McNabb shows some of his smooth style while battling in his qualifier. Even with the far outside gate Team Canada was able to get to turn one in a decent position. Fresh off his MXGP World Championship Jorge Prado looked great in France. Jess Pettis flies through the French air next to 100,000 fans. On Sunday morning Team Canada had one last chance to salvage the weekend in the B-Main. Dylan Wright’s CRF450R took a beating in France. Thankfully Dylan was okay and is now focusing on 2024. Although it wasn’t the result everyone wanted, our boys gave it everything they had in France. Oh yeah, the home team won!Without this woman Team Canada wouldn’t even have made it to France so let’s all just say thank you!
