Over the years the Atlanta Supercross has been one of the biggest events of the Monster Energy Supercross Series. Not only is its location perfect for the large group of Southeastern fans, but for whatever reason, this event always seems to produce some very exciting racing. This year was no different as both the 250SX class and the 450SX class provided fans with some great battles during their main events.
In the 250SX class, Atlanta was the first of three East/West Region shootouts as the best of both coasts collided inside the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Watching the West Series points leader Adam Cianciarulo battle his east counterpart and teammate Austin Forkner was very entertaining and the fans loved it. After battling through the ruts and soft dirt, Cianciarulo took home the victory as well as the bi-coastal bragging rights.
In the 450 class, the story continued to be Cooper Webb as he grabbed the lead early in Atlanta and held on for his fifth win of the 2019 season. Behind him was the KTM duo of Blake Baggett and Marvin Musquin, who kept Webb close but were unable to get passed. It was another great ride by Cooper Webb as he managed the main event like a cagey veteran. If he can keep up this pace and his cerebral riding, Webb might just be able to win his first 450SX Championship. With the very challenging Daytona SX coming up this weekend, we take a look back some amazing Atlanta photos by Matt Wellumson.
