Yamaha Motor Canada Presents Behind The Lens From Gopher Dunes

Another Gopher Dunes National has come and gone. While most of the day went pretty much as expected, there were a few shocking moments. First off, we think that Mike Alessi’s 1-1 domination of the 450 class was fairly unexpected, unless of course your last name is Alessi. Not that Magic Mike wasn’t capable of winning both motos on the roughest track of the series, it’s just that during the first three rounds of the 2019 MXTour Series he didn’t show us that he had this type of day in him. However, when he told his Team Manager, Derek Schuster, earlier in the week that he was going to win both motos at Round 4, that was apparently a sign of how motivated Mike was to win in the sand.

In the 250 class, Alessi’s GDR Honda teammate, Dylan Wright, picked up right where he left off out west as he too won both motos. It was definitely a great day for the home GDR Team as their riders stood on top of the podium in both classes. For the rest of the riders, a few had a good day at Gopher Dunes, but for most it was just about survival and trying not to lose too many points. The riders won’t get any rest this weekend in Sand Del Lee as Saturday promises to be the warmest day of the 2019 summer. So as the series prepares to travel to our Nation’s Capital, let’s take a look back at Round 4 through the lens of James Lissimore.
