Yamaha Motor Canada Presents Behind the Lens From Houston

They say that everything is bigger in Texas. Now, I’ve been to the Lone Star State and the only items I thought were bigger were the views (you can see for miles) and the steaks. However, as the riders arrived in Houston for Round 13 of the 2019 Monster Energy Supercross Series, the top guys all had their eyes on the big prize.

In the 250SX West class, points leader Adam Cianciarulo had a terrible evening as he struggled through all three Triple Crown main events. His closet rival in the series, Dylan Ferrandis, had another strong night of racing as he grabbed the overall win in Houston, his second victory in as many weeks. With just two races remaining in the west series, Cianciarulo now holds a slim five-point lead over Ferrandis.

The 450SX class was also an exciting one as points leader Cooper Webb had to come from behind in each main event to eventually take the overall. In the process of his charges to the front of the pack, Webb had to make some very aggressive passes, including a pass on his teammate Marvin Musquin. This eye-opening pass ended up putting Musquin off the track and on to the concrete floor. Musquin would come back and win the final race of the evening, but he couldn’t have been too happy as he was leaving Houston. With just four rounds remaining, Webb now has a semi-secure 17-point lead over Musquin. Will Musquin now respond with his own aggressive riding when he’s battling Webb in these final four main events? The answer to that will come this weekend as the series heads to Nashville for the first time in history. Before we move on to the home of country music, let’s look back at some incredible Houston SX photos by Matt Wellumson.
